Doing a little clutch testing on the SCApex yesterday ... dropped about 8-grams out of the primary looking for the rev-limiter (removed the 2-tungstens in the heal and replaced them with 8-washers) ... boy-o-boy did I find it ... the thing was barely rideable ... if you rolled on the throttle it would lay on 11,100 - 11,200 ... but if you stabbed the throttle it was all over ... felt like someone snatched the belt out of the clutches ... my point ... and maybe this has been covered already ... the tachometer DID NOT show the RPM to be over 11,200 !!! before the rev-limiter became active ... it lagged significantly behind the rev-limiter when stabbing the throttle ... thought that might be a worth while condition to bring up for the trouble-shooters trying to help people out.
While I was romancing the rev-limiter ... I would occasionally feel a growling under heavy load climbing ... I thought it may have been the track ratcheting, bogie wheel, belt, clutch, gearbox issue ... I would inspect everything each time ... but would find nothing irregular... upon my 100% post-ride inspection ... well I'll be go to heck ... the radiator fan motor was laying in the bottom of the radiator fan shroud ... the growling was when it kicked on and went bezerko inside the shroud ... all three screws are missing in action ... I used a mag-lite, inspection mirror, and drug a flexible magnet through every part of the chassis it would go into ... no screws.
Looked in the Yamaha fiche and there is no listing for the screws ... only the entire fan assembly ... looks like I'm going shopping for some tiny metric screws.

I have never heard mine come on. Makes me wonder if mine is even working.
You must not be working your sled hard enough sapling ...
Apex turns the fan on at 195°F and the warning light comes on at 210°F ... I've never-ever seen the light on ... so it's never reached 210°F
If you want to play with it ... in the DI mode (diagnostic number 51) you can activate the radiator fan through the fan relay test.
