Buddy has a 2013 800 locked it up solid a couple weeks ago 4 miles on it. Never went over 20mph.
His dealer did the same, talked him into the two stroke. He wishes he wouldn't have listen to him. Got it back last week. We road and he is afraid of it doing it again.
Nothing like worrying all the time riding.
I dont back pack with any two strokes. Every time someone needs pulled.
Pretty clear he is brand loyal and never rode a yamaha 4 stroke sled and especially a turbo end one.
A bunch of my buddies ride arctic cats and all of them won't backpack with me or stay anywhere that isn't close to a dealer. That should say a lot. Dealer...never consider that while planning my trips. Just my 2 cents

Is it as reliable? Maybe so. They last a long time. I'm not defending AC but that Suzuki twin is a beast. Even a turbo'd Viper (at a cost of $5k + the additional weight) would have a hard time with it. And will a turbo'd Yamaha last as long as a NA Suzuki 2 stroke?......
Spent today all day with my 2014 M8 ltd and the girlfriend riding her new 2014 Viper xtx. After switching back and forth between sleds all I can say is you do not seem to have a real grasp on torque versus horsepower. Viper has usable power (torque) down low where it is most needed if you ride the steep and deep. Now if all you do is drag race lets compare the zuk 800 against an Apex? lol. But like I said if you ride steep and deep and think the zuk 800 has that much more usable power then the Viper there would be no sense in continuing this conversation as your facts would certainly not align with mine.
P.S. I really like the zuk 800 in my M8, but like the Nytro motor in the Viper better.

I took turbo cats out of the hole last year 7 out of 7 times. Never seen a ski tip until I topped out at 90 mph and then he would go by. I was already past 660 feet so in my eyes the race was over and won every time.
I have raced other guys that always win no matter if you led the whole way for 2 miles, when they pass you at the end then they claim they won. You can't fix stupid and I guess you can't race it either.

Oh you guys are too easy. I came from a Yamaha 4 stroke that I rode for 4 years. Don't forget you guys are just riding Arctic Cats with a different Japanese engine than mine. But on a serious note: The viper is 100 lbs heavier than my sled. That's a lot to wrestle with. My local conditions is extreme terrain with an annual average snowfall of 16'. That is the sole reason I don't ride a 4 stroke anymore. Around here its low altitude, steep terrain and deep snow. The 2 stroke power to weight ratio is the only real choice. Watermelon brain? C'mon no personal attacks. It's all in fun!

That's not a personal attack. I was referring to your Cat. Plus the notion that your 800 is more reliable than the NA 1049 AND Will give a turboed Viper a hard time. Oh yeah and the fact that you're not here to stir the pot.

I been yamaha for years..but talk brand loyal. I would bet if Yamaha dropped a 800 DI engine in chassis that's 100 pounds lighter there would be a lot of 4strokes sitting. I'm just speculating. My viper still has to much front weight I think but I'm getting onto it

Dude didn't you ride a phazer before lol? You can't compare phazer twin to viper triple! And no the zuki twin just simply does not blow the doors from genesis triple end of story, I rode on last year and next to one (my brothers 800rr). On a lake it would only pull 2-3 sled length and that's 30hp more and alot lighter. Now handling is different story tho.

Guys, please let's keep this lightheaded ok? I never said the Suzuki twin is faster than a turbo and I never said it is more reliable than a na triple. I posed the question is a turbo'd triple more reliable than a na Zuk 800 and that a heavier, more powerful turbo'd viper would have a hard time with my twin. Do the math. 450/165 is 2.72 lbs/HP. 560/190 is 2.95 lb/HP. Also, if I had $5k to throw at my sled it would weigh 400 lbs and make 180hp NA. Anyways, we are all on arctic cats here. Let the flaming resume! Oh an yes, I beat on a Phazer for 4 years keeping up with 7s and 8s. It took quite the licking and kept on ticking.

You said that a turbo 4 stroke would have trouble with the 800 and that is not even close to true. And you said that your 800 is as reliable as the triple and more reliable than a turbo 4 stroke which is also incorrect. Yes all in fun, but not when anything that you say is wrong! That's not fun that's ignorant and just trying to come in here and cause a problem. Nobody in this whole thread has stuck up for anything you said except that it's a good motor. And that's because this is a Yamaha site and most of us don't trash talk other sleds. Drive what you drive and be happy. Don't worry about the ones that have something different. If you don't like what I ride than buy me what you like and I will drive it otherwise keep your false opinions to yourself.

theres no way that little n/a sled will hang with a boosted 4 stroke! how many guys do you see running low boost in the mountains? I would say not to many most are running like 270hp kits and I have a lot of sled buddys running all different brands cats, poo, doo, including a turbo etec 800 and a turbo poo assult 800 and the 4 strokes always rules on the performance side of things just plan out torques the 2 smoke! as far as handling and tight trails yes the 2 stroke wins but that's all 2 strokes...I owned cats as well as Yamaha and I just sold my last cat after 180miles and went back to Yamaha viper!Suckur said:Guys, please let's keep this lightheaded ok? So u kept up with 7 and 800cc sleds with ur phazer, and the same 7-800cc sleds would just blow the doors from nytro/viper? Come on man get ur story togetherSuckur said:Guys, please let's keep this lightheaded ok? I never said the Suzuki twin is faster than a turbo and I never said it is more reliable than a na triple. Guys... be gentle with Sucker... he is just a cat with a melon hat..LOL
Seriously tho, we want good constructive posts, no bashing. If he stands up and asks to back off then we should be the better people and not fuel the fire. If he new what was good for him he would back off as well... or there is always the door for those that dont listen well.
