Asphalt Results "2007"

Actually, sorry to hear Terry...

As you know, nothing but best wishes from north of the border! That's what I've come to love about this asphalt thing... alot of people helping and/or encouraging others! Recently spent some long nights helping a friend put together a sled (Pol). He had gotten behind spending several weeks building up another good friends motor & pipes (triple in a REV). Today I heard there is an 1140 twin going in a second REV chassis for another very good friend (... it never stops). When Sunday comes, its all about trying to avoid one another til the later rounds. Then it's a beer afterward discussing the day and any future adjustments... and I love every minute of it!

I would imagine everyone on this forum & especially on this thread will be both pleased & happy for you. Keep us updated.

Jeff.

Went down to Union Grove, and was the number 8 guy to run down the track in episode 2. Kind of neat how they do it, and was able to a bunch of time runs along with being on the show. 1st run down the track was my fastest, and ran a 6.237 1/8 mile time. They had a problem witht the lights at the 1/4 and did not get that time. The sled had a new bottle on, and was a fly'in!
Next couple of runs, I hopped and spun, but still managed a 10.007 @ 130mph, and another 1/2 pass shutting the bottle off at the 1/8, but running a 10.114 @ 121mph. The run on the show, (beacause it was so slippery from the moisture, and no big tire cars running down the track), I spun the entire way down with a 10.113 @ 130mph on the bottle. The track slipped all the way down.

Guys... Wanted to put a post on the site about an upcoming race at NYIRP www.nyirp.com south of Rochester, NY.
http://www.nyirp.com/2007%20bike%20shoo ... 0flyer.pdf

A good friend of mine Jack Gliglora of Elite Motorsports is the promoter of the 'Bike/Sled Shootout' on Sunday June 3rd.

There will be a 'Bracket Race' along with a heads-up Quick 8 'All Motor' and a heads-up Quick 8 'Power-Adder Class' at this race on Sunday.

On Saturday the group from NSA will be there with the fastest PS-1000 Asphalt sleds on the planet mixing in with the regular program. If the weather is good the traction will be awesome. It will make for some fast ET's and Big MPH.

Friday Night is test-n-tune and I’m sure there will be a lot of teams testing...

If you guys want to make the trip it should be a good time.

Hope to see a lot TY-ers at this race...

guys this is a great event that Buster696 is posting the track is about 5 minutes from my house and we go every year. don't have to money to race this year as college cut into my cost tremendously but their is usually a good turn out and a bunch of fun!!

I will be staying here, as that is my mandatory weekend to work, and nobody to switch with due to the Monday holiday.

Have a great time guys! I will be cheering you guys on!

Friday is real street drag night here at Wisconsin International, so I will be doing more runs with the SRX to figure out my loss in top end charge.

Met up with the guys out at NYIRP last night and had a great time. Mike made great progress on his apex, and Wayne did good on his working with the suspension in between some nos confusion. I finally made some progress on my suspension and 60' times. Got 9 runs in before the track went away.

Started off the night...
60' 1.68
1/8 6.87 @ 99.52
1/4 10.95 @ 116.86
Right about where I had been.

Changed back to Heavy Hitters as the Super Tips I have are too heavy, and ran within .02 between the runs.

started playing with the rear and a couple runs later....
60' 1.49
1/8 6.63 @ 100.62
1/4 10.65 @ 119.11
;)! Starting to look good.

Played around with a couple different helixs...
60' 1.47
1/8 6.59 @ 101.01
1/4 10.61 @ 119.18
Awsome run.

Still have more in the suspension. Hopefully I can find another tenth in the 60'. Cluches are getting warm too so there's gains there. Lots of small steps left now, but not bad for stock airbox and motor. :flag:

This past Tuesday's times at Union Grove....

1st time ever I had a nice tailwind about 15-20 mph. Temp was 81 degrees, and humidity was mid 40's

1st time run - Miller Lite lane - reaction .162
1.461 60ft - 6.206 1/8 mile @ 110.19mph - (there was no printout for 1/4 mile, but from the 1/8 mile time, this would have been 9.60's-9.70's)

2nd time run - Tires Plus lane - reaction .009
1.487 60ft - 6.335 1/8 mile @ 109.63mph - 10.072 1/4 mile @ 131.44mph
(had to back off 1 time, cause it spun and went towards the centerline)

3rd time run - Tires plus lane - no bottle - reaction .075
1.442 60ft - 6.499 1/8 mile @ 104.73mph - 10.487 1/4 mile @ 119.44mph
(fastest pass to date without bottle)

Name That Test & Tune run, 70 degrees, with 75% humidity
1.500 60ft - 6.371 1/8 mile @ 107.16mph - 10.118 1/4 mile @ 130.22mph
(this run, I spun and skipped the whole way down, due to no vehicles going down the Miller Lite lane, and the moisture collecting on the track.)

5/26/07

WIR rained out

BTW Corey... I'm dam impressed with those low 10.6's. They are incredible... especially considering the 60ft times. Simply put... wow.

Hopefully I'll find a decent 1/4 mile set-up by July... love us to have a little fun during the time trials @ ESTA !

Wow, looks like it our track may be rained out this weekend again, when is this going to stop???? Have only had one race day so far and it got cut short after the first round due to rain. I'm participating in the Super Summit Series this year too, it's going to be difficult to get points if you don't even get to race!!!!

Friday Test n Tune at NYIRP went pretty good as Corey said. Finally got my transfer set to where the skis stay down AND the track still hooks good!

Just as Corey said, I am having all kinds of whacky things going on with my nitrous. I have a few things to check but maybe someone here has some advise.

I don't have my tickets in front of me but here's what happened.

First run 10.65 @ 124mph
second run 10.9 @ 118
third run 11.4 @ 111
changed bottle
4th run 10.8 @ 121
5th run 10.38 @ 127 mph (Best run of the day)
6th run 11.3 @ 114
changed bottle and runs were all over the place

On my best run of the day, the sled ran smooth, engine pulling hard the whole way. On the mediocre runs, the engine was "pulsing" the whole way down the track. It seemed like 1/2 second on, 1/2 second off etc. Seemed like it was getting proper nitrous and fuel then not...then on then off. really weird. Even the first run of the day 124mph felt like that On the first run, I was not looking at the tach. Second run, I was looking at the tach and watching it "pulse" between 10,600 and 10,900. I was not hitting the rev limiter. On the bad runs, It seemed like no nitrous at all...even though the bottle was full.

My controller records max RPM and and the "decent" runs I was running about 10,900 for max rpm. On my 127mph run, my max rpm was 11,040 according to my controller. I had no "pulsing" on this run.

Is it possible that my clutching was doing something funny? Seemed like engine to me.

My reaction times are getting a little better. I am still in the .1 to .13 range but I'll figure that out soon enough. My 60' times are a little better. 1.55 - 1.69. They were in the 1.75 range....so, getting better.

Any suggestions on the nitrous would be much appreciated.

Oh, and I finally beat Corey once... I redlighted a little...but so did he...lol

My record against Corey is now 1 win and about 12 losses....lol
