Wayne that is funny, 1 win....12 losses....

I think your bottle siphon tube is not where it should be buddy, and you are getting vapor, then nitrous, then vapor again. This happens when the sled pulls hard, and pulls the nitrous away from the siphon tube like we talked about when you were here. I am surprised you aren't seeing the 11,000-11,200 range more often with a full 50 shot of nitrous. Could be hitting the rev limiter so hard, it is dropping spark immediately to 10,900????

WHen you drove mine, I have my clutching set at 10,100 and it climbs right to 11,100

Last Tuesday would have been a 9.60-9.70 by my 1/8 mile time.

Terry,

Good educated guess. You are correct. I bought two new tanks on ebay.... Those were the tanks that were giving me the problems. I just took them apart and found NO DIP TUBES :o| :o| :o|

I called the guy and he is shipping me the dip tubes.

As far as clutching goes, I have have it clutched to hit 11,000 on the NOS. I'm revving about 10,200 off it right now.

I getting a few components and bumping my NOS up to 100HP. I'm gonna get Corey again soon! :nos :nos

You should make sure it works right before you start bumping things up, things get pretty confusing when you do too many things at once. The key is get it consistent, then start crankin' it. I usually run my turbo on low boost for consistency and once in a while turn it up when the hookup etc. is great, that’s the time to pull off your own speed records etc.

I’ve got a couple of buddy’s that run cats and they are always trying to beat my times and not the guy in the opposite lane. This year one of them is stating that he can’t race as spending 5 bills every race weekend is too much. I asked him why it’s costing him that much and he said a couple of belt is 2 bills by itself, let alone the two or three piston jobs he has to do, so he won’t be racing much this year! Sorry about getting a little off topic but make sure that you have everything done right, don’t just put more juice to it! I think Terry runs mostly without the bottle in the competition rounds.

Yes, no bottle is more consistant.

Unless you have a system that would turn it on at the same moment in time, but can't beat the consistancy of the stock sled.

Wayne, It sounded like purging to me, and that is why I came up with the siphon tube. Had a siphon tube crack from trail riding, and everytime I would refill the bottle, I would save that full bottle for the guys that wanted to try out the nitrous. The 1st 4 seconds would be awesome, but then would lose power and rpm. Guys thought the system was a joke, and I couldn't figure it out till I took the bottle apart. Glad you found out the problem,....NOW GO GET IN THOSE 9's!!!!!

I agree 100% with what you are saying. I have been playing around with the N2O at test and tunes. I can run very consistant without the N2O so when racing, I will run stock until I get it really dialed in.

The main thing I'm doing to get consistancy out of the nitrous is switching over to a regulated system. I currently am un-regulated. Problem with this is - as I'm spraying a big shot, my bottle pressure is dropping throughout the 10 second spray. So, my HP is actually dropping throughout the run. Once I put my pressure regulators in, I have to run bigger nozzles. Also, I will be triggering my nitrous off the throttle position sensor with RPM activation. That should make it very consistant.

That setup should be pretty sweet and pretty consistant. In either case, I'll dial in the 50 shot before I bump up to the 100 shot.

Guys,
Finally had a moment to post so here it goes…
Friday meet up with Monker/Cory and Stoutner/Wayne at NYIRP on a test-n-tune night.

Off the trailer with a brand new Apex and stock clutching and wahl skid setup I wanted to see how the sled would run… Sled ran 11.32et @ 115.88mph and skid was having issues spinning. Changed the skid setting and made couple more runs. Got the sled down to 11.07 @ 117.60 with the changes and that’s all she had with the stock clutching.

Changed over to a 4-tower clutch that I’d been using with the turbo sled.
Best run with new clutch setup only reving 10,000rpm and some more skid adjustments. Best with that setup was 10.79et @ 117.05mph before the track went away.

Saturday I went to the track and off the trailer with Friday’s setup the night before and ran a 10.75et @ 117.18. The track had a lot of cars running and when I made my next run it was a 10.80 @ 117.61 with the skid/sled porpusing bad. Had a rain delay and then had to make a couple more runs before we started racing for the night. Made another run 10.77 @ 116.99mph to make sure things were good… lets go racing. Well the track really started to hook with all the big cars running. Made a run and a dialed too high 10.80 and the sled ran a 10.71, lucky the other guy hit the red-light. After that the sled was hooking too hard and slowed down (ET) a little (hop~spin~etc.), but didn’t want to change anything. Made it to the semi’s and got 3rd for the night. I guess I’m a bracket racer now… ;)!

Also, had a friend take some video of my sled taking off and I see there are some major issues there. Going to make a major skid change and hope to get out tomorrow night to see how it goes. Overall it was a good weekend and look forward to this weekend with the Bike-Sled Shootout and NSA race at NYIRP.

Good job Mikey!

Went to the track on Monday, but just to watch with my 2 yr old son. They had some nostalgia (1970's era) funny cars and what they called "Mountain Motor Pro Stock" cars there. Saw one of the cars run 4.77 @ 148 mph in the 1/8 and that is cooking! No racing this weekend as the track is closed, but hopefully June 9-10 I will be out with the stock Apex and also the turbo Apex.

;)!

Good luck to the guys going to NYIRP this weekend! Hopefully the weekend goes off without any rain!

Good luck guys, and will be thinking of you guys racing, while I will be working.

Good luck guys!
Well looks like we are going to get some weather finally, so it's off to the races this weekend.

Friday night 6/1/2007, Real Street Drags at Wisconsin International Raceway

Humidity 100%, 71° - **air quality warning for high risk people**

Did some SRX tuning, and made very good head way on the times I ran. Still having traction problems, but getting better.

1st time run, lane 1, cloudy – reaction -.048

3rd time run, lane 1, getting closer to rain – reaction .015

4th time run, lane 2, rain on the way – reaction .014
1.399 60ft – 6.156 1/8 @ 113.641mph – 9.837 ¼ @ 129.998mph

5th time run, lane 2, sprinkles – reaction .039

1.434 60ft – 6.119 1/8 @ 110.932mph – 9.782 ¼ @ 129.790mph

Wanted to make a run on the Apex, but down poured, and was cancelled.

Terry, nice runs with some great improvement. Did the weather cool down a little during that night?

I ran T & T Friday night ay NYIRP and did solve my nitrous problems. I ran 4 straight N2O runs all in the 10.3's at 127 and 128 mph. I also ran 3 motor only runs and was within 6/100th's each time. I definately can only run 3 runs on my 2.5lb bottle. I tried to sneak out a fourth run and ran out half way. I finally got my sled tracking nice and straight and solved the ski lift problem completely. My 60' times still suck. I think it is mostly due to clutching as my traction is good. I fooled around with my fuel and tried to lean it out on the low end a little...no help there. My top end clutching for nitrous is perfect right now. All N2O runs topped out between 11,000 and 11,140. Im running 10,000 off the bottle.

I did see a bunch of sleds testing for Sunday's shootout. I saw a several sleds running in the 8's at 145-150 mph. I didn't get to see them all run as I was running my sled.

I'll be running bracket at the Shootout tomorrow. It should be a blast.
