Hey all
My coolant guage brightness is super bright, and might be a distraction at night and was just wondering if there might be a resistor or "dimmer" switch that I can use to make the light not as bright?
The wire that gives the guage its light is one single white wire, so a switch or dial with one wire in and out would be preferred.
Any ideas?

You could try putting tape over some of the bulb or maybe even paint it a bit.

I was thinking this as well, because if it is LED bulb, it wont run hot, so electrical tape would work. I have some electrical tape on router lights at home.
Im not sure how to take apart the guage. I know that the dial face and ring must come out, but is it just a pull off or is it threaded?

Resistors are virtually free. Problem is that depending on the current drawn by the bulb and the intensity you're looking for, its difficult to suggest a size. You can also go with a variable resistor or potentiometer, they're dirt cheap too, but again, need to know the current drawn - though not nearly as precisely as for a fixed resistor.

I run all Autometer on my sled. They have blue lighting, which at first I thought were bright when compared to the stock cluster. They really are not distracting at night. I my 02 sensor adjusts for night/day.
Maybe run it first and see if it really bothers you. You may be surprised that it won't?

Ya, thats what I was thinking too, just going to try it first. Just wanted to check my options in case I wanted to dim them a little.
You guys rock, thanks for the info!
