Okay, I know this topic has been posted before. But I am interested from those that run a Viper 129 or 137 strictly on trails - what is the best ski for this sled?
C&A
Curves
Mohawks
Tuners
etc.
I am mostly interested in a ski that handles crisp and does not push like crazy in the corners. I couldn't stand my Nytro's push before putting Split Rails on it and have loved the sled ever since.
I have had the experience riding:
a Viper with stock skis before Tuners,
Viper with C&A's with a slim jim bar,
Cat 7000 with Curves with a 6" shaper bar and
Cat 6000 with a stock skis and doolie bar.
btw - I ride mostly northern Ontario trails.
Thanks

I have a 2014 ltx se 144 studs and I am running stock Arctic cat skis with 6 inch duallies and have no problems on the trails what so ever. In deep snow is when it's hard to turn.

On my 2014 ltx I have the rear skid re valved(huge improvement should be your first mod), 1.6 ice cobra and SLP MoHawks with 6" round bar. Absolutely love this setup. The Skis rail with zero push ever. I say I have Medium steering effort, its not like power steering easy but its not arm pump hard either way easier than my stock skis with 8" Bergstorms. I did have some darting at first but it was 99% eliminated by Bergstorm ski shims and aligning the skis. Plus These skis rock off trail!

This is your answer, I love mine.Snowtrackers
I even made some homemade ones for my curve skis cost me 10$ to make and I used the original carbide.

So far i have tried
stock cat ski with stock carbides.
Simmons flexi skis with dual 4" shaper bars
Usi tripple threats with powersteering plates and stage 2 fins & 6" shaper bars
Skidoo pilot skis with dual 6"shaper bars.
Of all of these i found the skidoo pilots worked the best for me, but there is still room for improvment.
This year i will be trying the aggressive snowtrackers on the stock cat skis.I am hoping they are as good as all the hype.

I can almost guarantee that you'll love the stock cat skis with the snow trackers, you cannot make them dart even if you try, and very easy steering. So far i have tried

I hope you are right.
My biggest concern right now is that a lot of the little trails i have to use to get out to the main trails are very rocky.
Especially in years like this one with low snow.
I am really concerned about buying a set of $200 carbides and then potentially driving them over rocks to get to where i need to go.
Oh well guess im gonna find out, lol

My wife took my cat skis with the snow trackers and I got the curves, which I hated at first because of hard steering and darting. They don't sell snow trackers for them so I made my own style of them with some stainless steel.

Sevey just curious what you ended up going with and how you find them? I was actually up in Singhampton yesterday riding and stopped for lunch at this restaurant that the parking lot looked like a snowmobile convention was happening! lol I just purchased a 2016 viper rtx at Parkway yamaha in the am on our way there going through collingwood.
Would appreciate your input!
Thanks,
Sevey

Hey DJ,
Mylar & Lorettas is a bit of a snowmobile mecca in the winter. Its a great spot, restaurant has great food and is not deadly expensive. Gas is close and we usually have good snow. This year has proved to be challenging though.
Congrats on the Viper. I technically don't own a viper (yet) so I cant say for sure. But after reading this forum lots, there is a ton of momentum towards Curves. When I drove a Cat 7000 they were crisp handling. That machine had a bit too much steering effort and we worked the centre shock to minimize that.
Also have a buddy with a Cat Lxr (I think) 137 with 600 ctec. He has stock skis with a dooly bar. I can honestly say I have never ridden such a poor handling sled. No bite, and it drifted across every corner to the point it was dangerous. I tried backing the centre shock so the spring was loose and although it improved slightly, still sucked.
Told him to trash the skis, get curves and be prepared to change springs on the centre shock. What wrestling match. My nytro with tuners was crushing him - that shouldn't happen. lol
Let me know what you decide.

Since they are now back in production Doo Pilot 6.9's get my vote. Best bang for the buck by far unless SnoX or XC racing. In that case CA.
