I've been thinking of quitting for the last 25yrs.....May as well stick it out one more year. Lol.I’m in central NH and it’s dismal. No local riding. 2018 was the last year we had good snow and local riding. Since then we are lucky to get trails open 2 or 3 weeks and when they do open they get beat to death in weekend. This has been the mildest winter I have seen in 50 plus years. Swamps never froze. I’m seriously thinking of selling.
Honestly.....I'm thinking of turning my sidewinder into a drag sled project. Nothing serious. Just for fun.
It was about 25 years ago that I said if I have to get a trailer to do this I'm done so what did I do, I went out and bought a trailer. Then 7 years ago I bought a bigger trailer. lol.
Sold that and now I just haul it in the back of my truck....

Hit 47* here yesterday just southwest of Traverse City. Only made one pass in the groomer back on Dec. 27th and haven't had a sled out yet. Had to cancel our Feb. 18th snowdrag and it looks like I'll have to head to the U.P. if I want to get a ride in. Sad year.

Yup....45 miles west of Albany, farm country, we had 3 days of marginal conditions. But the 1980 Olympics were in a snowless winter too, 2 years ago we had 6 weeks of great riding. Guess its gonna do what its gonna do.I’m in central NH and it’s dismal. No local riding. 2018 was the last year we had good snow and local riding. Had a maximum of 3 inches of frost. Easy to put up more trail signs, but other areas little frost.

The Winter weather does go in cycles.
I remember the winter of 1983 our area in particular. After the first week of February we had lost pretty well of all of our snow and winter was done. We put the Sleds and Skiis away and pulled our summer cars out of storage as the roads were clear and day time temps were approaching summer time levels.
Other years we sometimes are still riding the trails in April....although rare.

I don't blame you for thinking about selling.. This will be a theme in the future.. Selling and getting out.. I don't see much of any kind of riding in the USA in 20 years..I’m in central NH and it’s dismal. No local riding. 2018 was the last year we had good snow and local riding. Better do it soon.. Big melt coming.. 4 days of 40? Be careful lots of sleds and fatalities.. We have so much pressure in the UP the clubs cant come close to keeping up.. Trails are trashed by 1 pm every day.. Mid week is decent but otherwise its garbage..I'll have to head to the U.P.

For 4 years, on my 88 Formula Plus, I couldnt ride around home. Then in 93, tons of snow. My mxz, formula z, formula III, Mach z...had a new sled every 2 years as would sell before 5000 miles. It does go in cycles. We are just in a bad one, here in upstate NY. My old farmer neighbor used to say 'gonna be an open winter'....seen it before. The Winter weather does go in cycles.

We didn't always have a ton snow every year despite what the TV tells you. I bought a new sled in 1986 and couldn't ride all year, no snow.
The older members of our club tell us of "brown" winters when they where young.
I believe it does go in cycles, we are in a down one now for sure.
Sell out? I don't think so.

The way the weather goes in Ontario we will likely have more snow in a few weeks, unfortunately after the base is all screwed up locally. Its not uncommon that we have snow in March and up north into April. If it goes all mud then the sled gets summarized and the summer toys come out. No sell out for me. If I have to drive further I will

True. And back in the day of no trails, we rode on drifts, edges of fields, bare ground blown off hilltops. Nowadays trails can get closed if one landowner complains. Hard to think of any other activity that takes this level of dedication. Has to be a defective gene...We didn't always have a ton snow every year despite what the TV tells you. I would only add, I never put a sled in a 'toy' category. Takes true committment and patience, more like a professional sport. Toy riders come and go...jmo.The way the weather goes in Ontario we will likely have more snow in a few weeks, unfortunately after the base is all screwed up locally. Ok, maybe toy is a bit far. Hobby, which I do take them seriously, and spend too much time thinking about it.

Guess I can just reminisce here while it rains. Started our club in 98 and had many good times on our property year round after making a dragstrip! Dang...gettin old. But I did hear some rumblings about bringing back the grass, snow, and mud drags. Takes a lot of work. And cant get the ski doo crates anymore...I always knew the best lane too!Ok, maybe toy is a bit far. Hobby, which I do take them seriously, and spend too much time thinking about it.

I open the garage door and drive 2 blocks and on the trail. Trails are good and busy here.
Summers are cold until mid July.
