So I can't seem to keep a belt longer than 500 miles... (give or take) before they blow Apart. I' m Running the 8dn with clutches machined for overdrive and the 8 dn belt. Clutch temps are wsm. To the touch, out of curiosity I checked NA viper to see and his clutches were the same temp. (as far as my hand was concerned). Is there anything I can check? Should the belts last longer or is that about the life with a turbo? My average speed is 50-80 mph some Bursts up to a 100 or so and sometimes. Even slower... Just wondering if anyone has any pointers? Not quite sure how to exactly check the alignment of the clutches as they could be out a tad..... Thinking of trying a gates belt... Does anyone know the part number for the gates belt (8dn equivalent)

Really like to stop blowing belts.... Always seems to break something when one goes... I. Can buy a new. 8dn every 400 miles or so but #*$&@ someimes thats a weekend doesn' s. Like the right thing to do

Thanks guys!

I have a 2016 LTX no turbo and am running the Gates G Force 40C4340 carbon fiber. I really like it because there is none of the dust associated with Yammy belts. I guess I should be changing it as I am over 5000 kms.

either alignment is off or something is binding!!!! machined wrong possibly?? i'm turboed and have 2000km on belt! I just did a day of drag racing yesterday on that same belt and it is still in good shape! (gates 40C4340) I have also ran 8 dn and never blew a belt!

I can' s it being machined wrong.. Dave at hurricane did it not just some back yard job - could. Be alignment - anyone know the best at to check alignment?

And I'm jealous I'm. Getting tired of hearing that belt blow sound... Everytime. One blows it breaks something to

Also how would I know if something is binding? I had the secondary apart 3 weeks ago and everything looked good at least from. What I could see, changed out the cam Arm shoes, put it back together

do you have dave's clutching
you didn't happen to forgot the washer before you put secondary back on?

Yes. I have Dave's clutching - I've tried it with the washer and with out not much difference. Right now the washer is out - I could put it back in I've just been trying different combinations.. Not sure. It could. Of just been a bad belt possibly but with the washer in I blew a belt at 90 mph or so and took out my side. Panel.... Havnt had much luck that's when I took apart the secondary and did the cam slider shoes because when. The belt. Blew. It Snaped one of them....

Every belt lasts at least 300 miles goes for about 500-.wnd I do break them in
.. Doesn't seem to make a difference - I'm only running the 190 kit so it' n pushing crazy hp numbers - I phoned around this morning have a gates belt (40c4340) belt on hol for me.... I hear good things.. Maybe I'll try putting the washer back in and the gates belt.... I'd be happy if I could get 1000 miles out of a belt.... Nor asking for the world lol

I have a manual but I still don't eexactly understand how to check clutch alignment... If it was out I fugue they wouldn't even last the 4-500 miles..... But I'm definitely not expert

If you blew a few belts in such a short time then you have something going on and gates will probably blow too!!!!
I haven't had to ever check alignment on this sled so im no help!
Give Dave a call tell him what is going on and her will guide you in the right direction

Havnt talked to save buy I got home. The clutch offset appears to be 0.52 so within tolerance, just looking at the secondary clutch now...

Havnt talked to Dave ** but... I' rrunning the 47/39 helix had it in position 0-1 thinking about a different setup. But not sure what to do

Rpms are just about perfect running Dave's kit.. Primary clutch the heel weight is 14 grams and nothing in mid or tip - it- runs real good other than blowing belts.. Just can't figure it out - doesnt seem to be anything obvious

I'mm going to try more wrap in secondary spring (3-1) and a gates belt see what happens
