You need a copy of the Snowmobile vehicle act and a copy of motor vehicke safety act. Both available on line, just google it
I was charged under section 18(2) of snowmobile act

From what I have heard they are strict on the modified exhaust in Canada. Not so much here in Minnesota but I leave mine stock as I do not need to give them a reason to stop me since I like to have a few adult beverages while I am riding!

Great, one who admits to drinking and driving.

Doesn't everybody? I think if I quit drinking I would have to sell my sled as it just wouldn't seem much fun anymore!

Nope, I don't. But I do enjoy cleaning those who do up off the highway. Too bad people have to rely on an intoxicant to enjoy life.

sledding is my high. I don't think drinking and sledding mix. I have a friend who does, and seems to wreck his sled on every trip. I just hope he does not wreck a family someday and hurt or kill someone........I'll get off my soapbox now.

I guess that we are way off topic now but I feel that I need to defend my post.
There is a big difference between having a few drinks and being completely bombed while riding. I enjoy having a few drinks along the way and from my observations at the bars & resturaunts that I stop at many other sledders do as well.
I am sure that I will be outnumbered by people posting against any drinking and sledding because it is not politically correct to advocate anything other than a zero tolerance policy. However I suspect that in reality more sledders enjoy a few drinks while riding than those that do not.
I do not need alcohol to enjoy life. There are many activities that I enjoy without alcohol. However for me the social part of sledding is just as much a part of the fun as the actual riding and for me that includes stopping at a few bars along the way and enjoying a drink with friends and fellow sledders.

Blue Dave,
That was, as usual for you, a stand up reply of integrity.
I totally understand your point but would like to plead for another way to become the norm. I will have a 'beverage' at the end of the ride, not during. Not to start an argument, I am sure you are responsible but I take care of several paraplegics who thought the same and now live changed lives. They and the families always wonder 'IF".
We all know we leave some establishments saying, "I hope we don't meet them."
To much time on my hands and should have said nothing.

I would bet any amount of money on that and say you're dead wrong, (pun intended) you are definitely the minority.
My limit for the day, (if I even decide to have one at all) is 1 and that's it, period.
Personally, I would hate stopping at bars just to have a few, unless there is a meal involved and in which case, it would just be the meal and maybe 1 beer then I want to get back riding.
Like what has already been said, nothing better after the ride is done to sit around and have a few and talk about the day

My group rides pretty fast, and when we stop we might have a couple with a hearty lunch, but we are then back on the trail. We really wait till we are within a close/safe distance of our hotel to tip some back with dinner, and of course tip some more back when we get back to the hotel. Anymore then a couple at lunch will just make you have to figure out how many layers you have on in the woods to take a piss LOL. I've seen accidents (not in my group) with too much booze and not planning when and where to have a few. If you do You better hope you are close and slow. If certain people we do not know well come with we end the cocktails early, or move it to real close to the motel. Just because we don't need a case of beer balls on a 150+ HP sled. The two negatives to beer is trees and cops......

Exactly! The young guys all jacked up on Red Bull who ride the trails like they are in a snowcross race also worry me more than the older guys that have a few drinks at the bars along the way.
