So I was helping my son replace his Nytro exhaust gaskets and I broke the exhaust pipe. Luckily I had a full system in stock so we're in the middle of putting it on.
Got everything out of the way, bellow / gasket clamps loose, but that bracket that holds the exhaust pipe is holding us up.
Do I drill out the rivets or take exhaust bellows off the block so I can slide the whole thing forward off that goofy hanger bracket that prevents you from sliding it off backwards?

If I am going to drill rivets out which kind should we use upon reinstall?

Thanks in advance for any help. This sure has turned into a bigger job than expected!

Okay we got it. Drilled the rivets to remove that header bracket under the tunnel - under the tank & we reinstalled it, which was much eaisier going back in.
For anyone tackling this job it wasn't that bad.
Tank removal was eaisier than expected & we'd never even removed a single plastic Yamaha pop-rivet before tonight (turns out a few extras of those would have come in handy)

I do one question before we button it completely back together, anything else we should look at while in there?
It's a 2010 with just under 5000 miles.

I hope you put the copper donuts in while you were there?

X2 on the copper donuts!!

Since tank is off plugs are easy to get at.

I chose to take the headers off to create enough space. My dealer told me that was the best way. Drilling rivets and replacing them is no big deal either provided you have them on hand.

Good idea on the plugs. My son already put tank back on, but then I reminded him we forgot to adjust the slack outta the throttle so for a possible extra MPH he'll be back in there :)

Copper gaskets - check!

I think the throttle cable adjust is on the handle bars? And I doubt there is anything wrong with your plugs unless you do a lot of short cycle cold start ups. I also take off the headers rather than drill out rivets. These can develop little cracks and need to be inspected closely anyway, IMO.

I don't see an adjustment on the bars, but there was for sure an adjuster mid-cable behind the tank.

I'll swap the plugs...they usually go a long time before needing attention, but that's a good idea.
So is the point you make about inspecting the exhaust bellows, I can see how those get fragile and crack.

Oh I should point out that there were no gaskets on ours. I mean NOTHING left of the old ones AT ALL, completely gone and only a small piece laying on the heat insulation. I couldn't believe it!
The flanges on the end of the header pipe were in unusually good shape considering those usually get pretty trashed once the gaskets give way.
