Build of a $600 SR Viper

You might want to look up Barn of Parts here on the site. He might be able to fix you up with some good used parts cheaper.

Thanks for the info. I will check that out.

The picture of the fiche I put up doesn't show very well, but if you go to genuineyamahaparts and check out the fiche, zoom in on that frame part and you will see the difference between the frame member on my machine only having one cross member on it and the frame member in the fiche having two cross members on it, and the second cross member ties into exactly where my frame is bent. Oh by the way I called the dealer today seeing if there was a TSB about this, but nothing. No biggy I was just thinking that maybe if there was a TSB on these Yamaha would send out a new part, but, as I said there was none. I am kind of in limbo on running this machine like this. I know it won't make a huge difference, but with the amount of parts I am already replacing why put them all on a bent frame. The logical side of me wants to replace it, but the cheap side of me says its fine and run it. The only problem I have with running it is, I can see clipping a rock with that side ski or coming down hard from jumping and not landing flat and landing on that side ca lapsing this frame and folding the weak spot in. And then I would be back to square one of having a beat down Viper, just one with new parts. So the piece will be replaced. I just wish it was cheaper then $430.

I changed oil in my '15 last night. I don't see an extra support bar. Here is a pic with both lower panels off.

At this point, I think it's pretty safe to say that all years are the same and none of them have the extra support bar that the fiche seems to show. Anyone with a '16 or '17 want to confirm?

Awesome! Perfect picture!

Thank you, ksiesel.

Maybe it is a generic fiche and that is a picture from a 2-stroke chassis and on the production line they had to eliminate it for the 4-strokes.

I agree with you I think it is safe to say that the extra support will not be there judging by how close the oil filter would be to it and also how much of a PIA it would be to service the oil filter with it in place.

Email received from Barn of Parts. Only the drivers are available. Oh well, maybe next time. I will keep checking periodically to see what is available though.

Put your list here, if you are lucky someone here might have parts that your missing.

After doing some reading about the Hurricane Performance Turbo. I think I will probably go with them. They are the closest to me here (just outside of Ottawa)

I am looking forward to hearing back from them.

I might have a 190 kit for sale this fall

Thanks for the offer STAIN. But I am going to want it sooner then the fall, I still have about 2 months of riding here. So as soon as the tax man drops of the cash to me, which should be in the next couple of days. I am going to pull the trigger on all the parts and turbo. The quote I received from David at Hurricane is around $5200 +/-. That is taxes, clutch kit, cold air intake and delivery to Kimmirut here.

Thanks for sharing the Build, just riles me up to see how some one could abuse this sled so.

WHAT WERE THEY THINKING? or may be I should say what were they drinking or ingesting.

Make her beautiful again !!!!

Thanks for the words of encouragement yamadoo. I am going to definitely try my best to give this poor girl the lovin's she requires to bring her back into her prime.

Well that is until she is done then she's gonna be rode hard and nasty ;) . But also get the maintenance required to keep her in her prime...

The parts required will slowly star to trickle in now, Woohoo :)

My motto is ridden hard but well maintained. :) They are to much fun to fix them up and stare at them. Keep the picts coming!

You got it kinger, no fun riding junk and up here you are just to far away from civilization to be breaking down due to a lack of maintenance. Oh plus there are a bunch of big white hungry bears roaming around.

Well I have no new pics to show, but I did order a bunch new parts last night. Ordered up both drive shaft bearings and seal for chain case, both jack shaft bearings and seal for chain case, limiter straps(one was broken), new spacers and bushings for the front skid shock(they were gone bottom of shock kind of floating around), new rail tip(one was broken). Total was $314

So at the moment I am slowly chewing away at the list of parts I had posted earlier

$600(price of sled)
$400(Starter bearings)
$315(misc. parts for skid and shafts)
$780(track)
-------------------------------------------------
$2095

So I am down $2100 so far and not anywhere near done. Oh well I will just keep plugin away at it.

No sign of income tax return yet. But good thing is I have to go to Iqaluit next week for an officers conference.
So there is a $1000 in per diems + overtime = more parts...

Going to be a good trip, the snowmobile trail from Kimmirut to Iqaluit is in really nice shape right now. Plus I have my patrol car (my Multi-purpose) dialed in pretty good for the conditions here.
