And IIRC, they are not directional or polarity sensitive. I still say it's a high current draw.
Would a stuck solenoid do it Moose? And IIRC, they are not directional or polarity sensitive. I still say it's a high current draw.

A stuck solenoid would have burnt the starter before anything else. I think his battery may be damaged as per below:

If the battery is shorted internally, it could be continually trying to charge it as well having to power the other loads. I'd take it out, charge it, let it stand a few hours and see if it stays at 12.4+V or have it tested. I'd just replace it to be on the safe side. The voltage regulator should also be tested as per the manual.

Oem is the only way to go, Tried a RMStator on my Viper when the oem Yamaha one was on backorder. Lasted 2 rides/400 miles before cooking itself. It used smaller wire all around compared to the OEM one and put out so much power that the Voltage Regulator had trouble keeping the voltage below 15.0v. OEM stator keeps me around 14.5v

I always thought RMStator was a good brand. Have used them once before for an old Ski Doo 503 fan and had no issues. Why would they stray from the specs of the original? Maybe trying to increase its output? Hope you got your money back.
I may try my hand at rewiring a stator myself if ever I find myself needing to. Magnet wire is readily available as well as writeups and videos on the process.
