Good thing you were only doing 40. It may have been ugly if you had it wound up. Ms

local dealer doing well by me- parts are in- getting it all back together- even loaned me a nice 09 Apex to ride in the meantime. Hope to have it back in a couple days...the Apex is is uncomfortable compared to my Viper.

Does this apply only if you Purchased Y.E.S. or is it included in the extended warranty I got as part of the spring power surge package?Dont forget about :
TRIP benefit.
Y.E.S. coverage automatically includes TRIP — Travel and Recreation Interruption Protection that's in effect from the date of Y.E.S. plan purchase, even during the factory warranty period. With TRIP, expenses related to a covered failure can be covered as well, up to $150 per occurrence. This means unexpected food or lodging expenses, transportation expenses, even a rental vehicle can be covered - and that's each time you have a covered warranty or Y.E.S. repair.

If I keep this Viper I will be adding YES for certain! Today I found out there are several parts they need that are coming from Japan...not a single one here in US!!! That's not good business PR for Yamaha. May not get it back for a few weeks...Most of my toys past and present have been Yamaha...not a happy camper right now.
Hey look at the positive. If parts are coming from Japan thats a good sign in my book! I dont know how they do it but direct from Japan I have received parts in 3 days. I suspect reality is that you are getting the updated parts. Some including oil tank are backordered was improvements made. I suggest having your dealer try sourcing parts from AC and calling Yamaha for approval if parts are found. My dealer has had no problem doing this even for shock parts. Yamaha Warranty will pay for AC parts if asked.

Looks like the safe way is to change that bearing every other year. Yay. I wonder if any of this has to do with chain tension. Wouldn't think so.
Mr Sled has seen a much better bearing and hopefully will chime in here. I plan to go to it this spring and crossing my fingers in meantime. I have made almost 5500 mi now with stock wobble bearing but admit I am nervous.
