Got the Ulmer quiet can and clutching done today. First ride in less than good conditions for speed, 31 degrees and about 2 inches of slush and sleet, and saw 88 on the GPS. Maybe a little more than I would have seen before, not sure but maybe one or two MPH more. Tickled at the response and mid range though. For the first time I can pick the skis up at will.

I started with the Ulmer kit (still run it) tried other setups and keep coming back to it for the response and mid range pull as well.

Add an air intake kit also...my 15 LTX pulls real hard now and gained 7 mph

Which air intake did you use? I looked at the Excel kit and Allen mentioned his mod. Not sure if I am leaning towards the kit or moding the box as he mentioned.

I've got Ulmers quiet ceramic coated can..Ulmers clutch kit with soft start spring and excels air intake kit...woke my sled up nicely.

Had better conditions today, 11 degrees and really hard packed snow on the lake. Over a 1 mile run at WOT I saw 93 on GPS, 2 MPH faster than my best run before the mods. Still less than 700 miles on the sled so I think I am going to hold tight until I get over 1,000 miles on it to see what happens. Oh except for loosening the track a bit and putting on Dupont slides.

It will get faster.

Not bad. Little low. 9100 would help a little in poor conditions. Not much though.

My question is, how much will I gain from it breaking in? I've heard anything from 800 to 1,800 miles being the magical number.

I will add, my riding buddy and his MXZ 600 isn't laughing as much as a month ago, and the AXYS 800 Switchback isn't laughing at all anymore. The Doo is still getting me on the big end by a little and the Poo has two 600s that he can't shake at all.

love my airbox mod and ulmer can...skis up no problem
