Here is more info on the ratings. You only need to have one of the 3 rating on a helmet to make it safe. https://www.revzilla.com/common-tread/helmet-safety-ratings-101

If our brains worked correctly we clearly wouldn't be riding sidewinders! To dam fast!

Just curious as its hard to find local places that sell a variety of helmets. My head measures 23inches which of course is between a medium and a large. Which way do you go.?

So ice or a tree isn't a hard surface then. Do yourselves a favour guys take your old Dot approved clam shell helmet and throw it against a tree, watch what happens KABOOM!. Then image the same thing at trail or lake speeds. A Dot helmet is the minimal protection, and yes it might save your brain box but more than likely you will have brain damage. Compared to wearing a Snell or Euro spec helmet.
Picture it like this Dot helmet = Oem seat belt found in your car. Snell/Euro = 5 point harness.
Regardless what helmet you choose, what matters most is your wearing one.
Kepp the rubber side down guys!

So I generally buy size Large motorcycle helmets. Both dirt and street.
Would you recommend an XL in a snow helmet? It's been 12 years since my last snow helmet purchase, so I wanna get this right.
I really like this Castle. Looking to order one soon.

They do run pretty close to size. But winter helmets need more room for Balaclava and such. http://www.castlesales.com/size-charts/

Well since Dennis Kirk is only 30 minutes from me, I'll have to stop over and do a little fitment testing.

Guys, I have these Castle helmets in stock. They are great, used them myself last year. As Mr Sled mentioned, improvements were made from last year. As far as size, they generally run true to size. If you are in between size, better to the larger size, always consider your balaclava or other headwear. TY members get a discount on my site, use code TY1001.
