CAT says NO STUDS

I will make contact with my dealer tomorrow. No biggie, won't be going out of my way......

What's so jacked up about this, is that considering how many forms of contacting owners....it always has to be the typical Yamaha bullcrap of hearing stuff fourth hand, only some dealers being told....and each something different at that. Only some dealers knowing about re-flashes, only releasing information when the rumors can't be controlled anymore. If they even tried to make an effort....they could easily email or text owners.........

But when my factory 1 year warranty runs out on my kids stupid SRX 120.....well, hell.....lets send that idiot (me) 37 letters warning me the warranty is gonna run out. When that didn't work.....Yamaha sold my cell phone number to a telemarketing outfit to sell me an extended warranty....on a stupid SRX 120. Each freaking call, the recording says it's my last chance/last call. The bastards have called everyday for 2 weeks.

Yet....Yamaha can't get off their asses to call me directly, thank me for buying the most expensive sled anyone has ever dreamed of, and say "oh, by the way...if you even screw the gas cap on too tight, we'll void your warranty."

I can get the freaking phone number of the original owner of a '12 AC from Canada, which I bought at auction, and a history of every nut and bolt ever replaced. Yet with Yamaha....the best I can get is shitty Yuasa 5 month batteries and 87 telemarketing calls from their dirtbag associate companies.

And as far as their Yama Cash crap....for accessories that don't exist, or are on back order: I'll be surprised if I see this voucher deal before June, and it will have a July expiration. Mark my words.

Yeah....little pissed off.

Yeah, I'd say.....no worries. Just a rumor, at this point. Could be confusion as well. Never know.

My brother just picked his LXR up this week and the dealer went and drilled the entire track for him for studs. I'm guessing they didn’t get the memo or aren't concerned. This is a large Cat dealer in WI.

I'm sure there would be no warranty if you threw a stud a nuked a motor. But things have been like that for forever.

Funny that this post just popped up after a conversation with my dealer today. (Extreme Powersports, Gaylord Michigan). I was calling around looking for the short blue windshield and after hearing that they are discontinued until Yamaha can find a new supplier, I was voicing my displeasure with the accessory choices for this model. Out of nowhere, he mentioned that there is a new tunnel protector coming out, but Yamaha has told them all warranties are voided if a studded sled comes in! Seems drastic to me, but they are telling everyone to NOT stud these unless you are OK with zero warranty. I have no intentions to stud, so I didn't ask any further questions related to this topic. Call them and ask the parts or service rep if you'd like more details.

its not cat...its Yamaha... customer service will be getting call from me and others I know 1-800-796.7926

OK...clarified with cusomer service...product specialist...if you stud...and the stud causes a failure...whatever fails is not covered...

I.E. if you throw a stud into your exchanger...its not covered....if your sled overheats and you lose a motor...not covered..

that said...if anything YOU DO causes a issue...not covered...if you flash your ecu...not covered..

much of this is tempered by how good your dealer and their service department is and your relationship with them

That's "fair"...it's always been that way. I know the risk of studding, to me, it's worth it.

Thanks for clarifying! So basically same as always! Lol

SW owners manual says Yamaha does not recommend studs. Due to the fact drilling the holes causes fibres to break and weakens the track. Personally, from a safety perspective and riding lakes, I would never ride without them. I have seen unstudded sleds hit ice and pirouette until they slam sideways into the snow and barrel roll.

I figured as much, and has always been that way. That's why I've been careful to set my studs one day....let them relax and seat themselves for a few days, and then finally torque them another day. Follow up after a few hundred miles with a re torque, and then green creeping lock tight. If I throw one....at least the voices in my head will say I've done my best!

I happened to call my dealer about my trailer on order, and brought up this latest concern or whatever you want to call it. They've heard nothing....however the post about AC busting balls is absolutely true. Luckily, he's been with them since day one....and probably gets a little slack.

He did mention that the shop has been studding the crap out of all the ones they've sold.
