A while back I read an interesting article at Arctic Insider about changes made to the 2016 model skids.:
http://www.arcticinsider.com/Article/Handling-Upgrade-Convert-your-ProCross-Skidframe-to-2016-Specs
I have the skid out to revalve the shocks and figured I would revisit this. I asked Mike at Carver Performance about the spring and he said that as soon as that article hit they were on BO for a long time and that everyone seems to rave about them.
I looked up my sled (RR skid) as a Cat (ZR 7000 RR) and it showed # 2704-228 as the factory spring. For 2016 MY it showed 2704-755 so I decided to order one to try. My spring already looks like the replacement, but it is different in that the lower rate coils have a greater spacing allowing for more travel at the lower rate. The difference is somewhat subtle, but you can clearly see that each of the "soft" coils has a significantly larger gap. I hope to get the skid back in today and find some time to hit the trails ASAP!

I put one of those $40 cat dual rate springs in my 14 rtx front skid shock.
I cant believe the difference it made in overall ride comfort. For the first time since i owned the sled, i can feel the front skid shock working.
I like it so much, if i keep the sled after this season i will be looking into a true dual rate spring

I bought two more of the 160#'s 2704-229 since I am betting they will be sold out soon once the Sidewinder guys figure out how soft the fancy dual rate they have is. I think Yamaha had a influence on that in a attempt to make the Tuners turn. Buddies you cant even move the front end its like its bolted to ground. Shame.

I had my shocks revalved after the first season and it made a big difference. but this spring really changes things.
there is a plushness now that I never felt before. and it still seems to hold up well in the rough stuff!
I can honestly feel my suspension working under me. its awesome!!
funny part is I almost let the clowns in the cat forums talk me out of it, there was a ton of grumbling about what a waste, not a true dual rate. blah blah blah.
so glad I did not listen.

Did I see right that the LE Winders had dual springs and a crossover ring?

For those looking to see what this really does, take out your skid and depress the front arm. You will find that the resistance comes up quickly.
Mine had a 100/250 spring stock and got the same rate just more length of 100# and less length of 250#. It was pretty decent and now I expect it to be better yet.

I have a 2015 rtx dx. What part number spring will work with my front track shock?

Probably the best thing you could do is read the article that I linked in the original post. While the RTX seems to have kept the same spring in 2016, I suspect that this is a misprint and the LTX version (1704-736) would be your choice.

Well I ordered the 1704-736. Looks like it is on many of the arctic cat versions of my sled now. Guess I'll give it a try. Can try it out verses our other 2015 viper to see which one handles better. I'm happy with how these sleds handle on groomed trails. But when the snow is soft and chopped up from traffic the push and are a lot of work. The also don't ride nice on small whoops. 1 footers

Oh one last question, is it possible to sneak the shock in and out of the track without pulling the skid?
