Hello all, I have read many a post about the Apex/monoshock rubbing on the track, the ulmer track rub kit etc etc.

but I cannot find for the life of me any issues/posts on the Phazer track rubbing.

My track seems to be rubbing on the bottom of my center skid shock. well it was, now I replaced the shock, and am trying to prevent it from happening to this new one. fully raised up, the shock is so close to my track that it I can barely wedge my finger under it, I would say 1/4" - 3/8" of room in-between.

I pulled my skid, beefed up the pivot link, replaced the center shock, cleaned and greased every shaft.

not sure how to prevent the rub moving forward?

The link itself was not broken, but one of the bolts had backed out of it and it was sitting a bit crooked, causing the below pic to happen. But I took it all apart and the shaft was straight as an arrow, measured it at work.

Hoping now that I have it all back together properly it will prevent the rubbing.

I bet it will be fixed. Well done.

Hopefully it's fixed! I am a little curious though, what is the condition of the Hyfax and front idler wheels? I'm wondering if they could possibly be worn enough to allow the track to have become close enough to the shock to start rubbing when riding over rough terrain.

Front idlers are in good shape, I’ll have to check to hyfax again but I thought they were in pretty good shape on both sides.

It is 3800 miles of rough riding I wonder if it’s normal wear and tear for that shock being so close to the track.

I just opted for the Schmidt brother's "large idler wheel" kit when I had my pivot link and front arm reinforced. They machine the collars and run larger bogey wheels to prevent this issue from happening and allow the sliders to wear more evenly.

Mine seems to be rubbing too, what did you ever figure out?

You need to take that whole linkage apart. Look for cracks and wear in bushings and rail holes egged out. Looks like oil from shock on the track also. Those are not rebuildable shocks though so would need to replace. Lot of work.

Maybe just an illusion but the idler wheels look well worn. I encourage guys to run the slightly larger excel x wheels to help keep track away from lower shock eye. Link below to the wheel in my online store.

The oil is from pb blaster, sprayed the shock mount for easy removal.

The idler wheels are well work but so are the hyfax, combination of both?

Also, should my limiter strap be tight? It’s super tight no matter what, couldn’t it j no it be alloying the skid not to lower?
