I didn't say there was no wear. I said no excessive wear like people are saying. All other bearing and parts are still good also, but i will change a few bearings when i switch it back for next winter.

I disagree. It's brass underneath.
My next top gear is getting a custom spray coating on the bushing and the oil weight will be reduced to either synthetic ATF or diesel motor oil based.
And if it shows that is also wore. It's no different than a bearing in a motor. Yamaha warrantied mine and the wear if coating is gone is measurable. This wear is the first step in the small gear not fully engaging because it is sloppy and not straight at that point which causes failure. There is no way to know if when going from reverse to forward if the gears are fully engaged so best anyone can do is ensure all the parts are 100%. It's well documented failure point and seen many times on the cat side. The gear is really inexpensive if not under warranty.

When i did my first chaincase oil change at 500 miles, and recently when i just changed out my chaincase oil i noticed the oil is very thin. Almost like a w-30 motor oil not a gear oil.
I have read lots of guys running atf with good results and i considered it for a while but eventually decided to run the AC synthetic chaincase lube.
Although its probably not needed, I added a friction modifier to it (ZDDP) just becaus i have some kicking around

There is one company making gears that have oil holes to that bushing in them. Haven't seen any long term reports on them yet. I know my Evo gear is wider so that may help also.
