Chain case

09 what I believe he is saying is that the Viper and AC 7000 are the same except for the clutches and paint. All the rest of the AC lineup uses the TCL and the auto chain adjuster........For now.

I am already hearing some cat guys saying the Viper wont blow belts just because it is lower power. This is not true since I personally saw ProCross NA 1100's and 800 cats that were also very hard on belts. When the Viper belts last as long as other Yamahas the reason is because Yamaha did it right and Yamaha deserves credit for that for sure. Would not surprise me to eventually see the whole cat line go to the Viper system.
Oddly enough, the "viper" system sounds exactly like the one Arctic Cat has used in the Sno Pro 600 race sled(sans reverse), for the last 2 years. Not sure why Cat insists on using that other abortion of a chaincase. We have had zero problems with belt life on the race sleds, with at least comparable hp to the nitro. I believe that is why Cat is employing it now on the non-legacy motor sleds. I believe it is also going into the El Tigre, and another little surprise that's coming. This will be the third year it has been tested under XC race conditions by AC.

Good info I never thought to look at the race sleds or the El Tigre I rode last winter. No TCL either? That 600 sure was FUN and I really do hope it works well for the cat guys. I noticed just the Viper,7000's and the El Tigre get the new guage also.
