Viper Updates...

I think the belt issue may have to do with the TCL. Cooling fins help cool the secondary more than people think. Previus cat secondary had none. imho

Wish I would have measured the Viper secondary. Maybe its just the pics. As for the HP I dont think so since I rode with a 12 1100 NA SnoPro that took out 3 belts I know of last season.
Yes any procross cat twin 1100 can have belt issues, because of the TCL moving around, and even 125 hp sled like you stated can and has had belt issues, what I was referring to,is the viper, now that has the same chassie, but they mounted the motor more solid, and did not run magical bearings along with the tcl, that and the fact that this sled being 130-140 hp and not having a 2200 degree turbo mounted under the hood will go along ways in helping any belt problems, but my guess is you and I wont see any belt problems from what I just stated.

Better not be. To be honest with you guys I did see my buddies Nytro blow 2 belts but both were at least 3000mi apart. I am not even used to that and didnt like it. Even the SRX made 4-5000 easy if I didnt do something stupid like leave parking brake on. My buddy said his clutch had a groove in it and his Nytro had well over 8000mi on it. Just not used to ever seeing a Yamaha blow a belt though. I could live with 3000mi but it better not take out the side panels when it goes either especially for $100.

Maybe someone can enlighten me but cat guys were complaining about blowing belts all the time (which I would be pissed too) but why spend almost $200 for a cat belt when ultimax make them half the price. If I am way off sort me out. Side note I always run ultimax xs on my nytro without any issues knock on wood. lol

If parts are interchangeable for this sled they may just switch to Yamaha clutching and belt.

2014 Cat has VERY different secondary clutch, I suspect Yamaha helped them sort out that issue.

I was told that the material (metal) used in the clutch for the AC was crap (china) causing belts to get hotter therefore, causing them premature failure. I don't know how they make the AC belts so cheap at $200 a piece. LOL

I'm sure the Yamaha engineers had plenty of time to help out. God knows they haven't been real busy in the last 7 or 8 years. lol!

Too true

I would love to have been a fly on the wall for a Yamaha and arctic cat tech talk.... or even a brain storming session, just to see how the two companies differ and on all the things they agree on or strive to achieve. hahaha even just hear some of the weird ideas they scraped. all that matters is we got the Viper back!!!!!
