Played with mine more yesterday, 6 pounds of boost, had stock 43 helix in and it felt good and had a nice steady pull, then put in the 50/46 helix I used last year and got the rpm right and it pulled way more on top end than with stock helix. Conditions sucked, it was just blowing soft snow but it ran the exact same mph on the tracks I had packed in as it did out in 6-8" of snow with zero tracks so it felt very consistent
Did you notice your backshift suffered a bit? Steeper finish angle will usually result in slower backshift.
Just asking cause I want better top end but don't want to lose too much backshift. I want to go from a 41 to 43 finish

If it changed at all the change was minimal at best, I personally didn't notice any change, but I only put 5-6 passes down the field on it, but on the spot where it was all blown off and out in the fresh snow there was no difference in rpm or performance.

Did you change the wrap on your helix?

No, still set at 2-6. Just adjusted weights to get rpms up, actually I only pulled 1 magnet out of each weight, 1 magnet is 1.3 grams so really didn't affect the clutching much but pulled 6 mph faster top speed.

Good to know. You still using the stock secondary spring? Pink I think

No I have ulmers secondary spring in now. Yesterday was the first I've used it, also ran the stock spring at 2-6 too so they are apparently a pretty similar spring

Ya but his spring is probably a bit longer and won't bind like the Yamaha spring. Thanks for the info!

Yes it is longer but I think more importantly it only a has 5 coil rounds compared to the stock which is 6 so yes the coils aren't even close together and shouldn't bind at all on full shift. One thing I noticed a lot recently was the 8dn belt in using is making a lot of dust, the gates I had on earlier this year had zero dust and if I had any dust last year with the stock 8jp it was minimal. The 8dn is making a lot of dust, gonna throw the old 8jp belt on and see what happens, I had good luck with it last year so worth a shot.

I just switched back to 8dn again. Thought I would try the 8jp again but dust was terrible just like the first time I tried it.
The 8jp made all kinds of dust by my foot rest after just a few long pulls. Ran the 8dn all weekend with very little dust. My top end was a little better with the 8jp but not worth blowing a hole through my belly pan.
I don't think you had the turbo last year??

No turbo last year, just ran it all stock with a clutch kit, but never really had any dust from the 8jp last year. I started off this year with the gates carbon belt for 200 miles than went to the 8dn for the last 200 but it's making dust like crazy, the primary and secondary have the black dust balls in them and the left side foot well like u said is all black, never had any of that earlier with the gates and haven't ran the 8jp yet this year, no reason not to try I guess.

Must be a bit more slipping than usual if the dust is that bad with the 8dn. Let us know how the 8jp works out..thanks

Yes will do that, who knows maybe the 8 jp will be just as bad, we'll see.

Do you have any specs on that secondary spring?

I don't have any, maybe Allen could post then but I doubt as tho he is following this thread. He described it as being about the same as the stock pink spring

It sounds like the Dalton red spring.
