I would be scared it wouldn't stick. It really hasn't fussed to the metal like a weld would, it is just stuck on the surface. You can always grind the weld off if you put to much.Mig is a good idea. Do you think the solder just wont stick well enough or the meting point. looked into it and melting point is around 800F. thanks for the help

Rivets are used because even loose they cannot come out. Anything that can come loose could end up being life threatening.

Could I get away with putting the smallest .85g aluminum rivet in the middle or am I asking for trouble? I won't have time to order heavier aftermarket ones before my big haul-we leave Thurs afternoon.

I am up to a 9/64 hole drilled through the rivet and not much change should I go bigger orYou are very welcome Scott
Happytrails may be onto something as the helix may be pulling more angle than advertised. Thus the lower rpm.

If you are low miles like under 1k miles I would let it break in and come to you. If over 1k miles I would reduce weight until you are near or over 9000 rpm.

I have 6000 miles on now. I guess I will drill more out thanks

If you have a gram scale I would highly advise using it to check balance between the weights. You can always drill partial to bring others down to same wt as the lightest one.

How light would be the lightest I should go. I started with 3-6 grams

That I can't say. Depends on the rest of your config. I had 3.2 gr rivets and IIRC I balanced my weights at 70gram, but I don't use the COTC setup at present.

I have a 45-39 helex gwg spring in primary and 4 shims 3-6 grams in the tip of the 8fps weights which I drilled out to 9/64 hole. I haven't weighed them yet.
