Coil shocks better then air on procross?

From the research I have been doing I have heard a few times that especially on Arctic Cat ProCross it definitely favors coil shock over an air shock even the ones like I have. Fox float 3 evil rc, as you guys know that is probably their second best shock they make. Should I go with a good coilover? Is it that much of an improvement? I was shocked to learn that not a lot of people like the air shocks, it is really 50 50
 

If you don't get them revalved for your weight and riding style then most shocks don't work that well. Air shocks work great if you take the time to set them up right.
 
I trail ride my LTX hard and I have to say the fox 3 shocks rock on this sled. Yes coil overs are probably better, but the stock float 3's work really well and to me it's not worth the money to upgrade...
 
Just saying. You could wake up in the morning and have a flat tire because of the cold. My M20 needs adjustment throw out the day and it doesn't have a air leak. Had two buds that had air shocks on there cats and and where tired of make adjustments throw out the day with that little air pump.
 
No one bothers checking and resetting air pressure though the day, weekend or most of the winter. That's what makes them so horriable. Why is cat and Yamaha the only ones that use them and the coilover qs3 taking over in those brands. The air shocks blow.

Now if you have the money to upgrade to coilovers you will like it. I would say if it's even a stress on finances that you probably aren't gonna notice enough of a differance to make you feel like you got your money's worth.

The only benifit to an air shock is its lighter. The shock itself is internally the same, it's the air sleeve that is different instead of a spring. Which needs several chambers to make them efficient and expensive coatings to smooth them out and reduce friction. A titanium spring would equal out weight with a more useful smoother more consistent feeling shock

I don't bother checking mine as the day goes on or if the temp changes. I don't check them ride to ride either. Heck I haven't touched my pressures since pre season when I set them inside my 62°f garage. Today it was -15°f overnight and the sled was out in the trailer dead cold. Rode just fine over drifts, berms etc.

My RC2's have been awesome since Carver set them up. My only gripe is getting screwed by Yamaha when they short changed me by omitting the DSC valves and Kashima coated parts that they baited me with.
 
My wife and I and happy with the air shocks!!! 2nd year running them and just double checked once in a blue moon to see if the have lost any air! We both haven't lost any air set and go!!

I'll probably post about it a few times but if anybody needs suspension work done near Huntsville, Barrie, Muskokas, there is a new shop that just opened. Fly By U Motorsports, and the owner is the Fox guy for this side of the Country.

Does he know shocks? He just left Jordan Szoke as his shock guy, and does a Lot of the CSRA teams shocks. So, ya, big time. In addition, he is beyond nice, beyond helpful, and as honest as the day is long. His wife and him run the shop and they are as nice as you could ever meet.

I took my RC2s in for revalve/rebuild, and he showed me how to set them up for the Viper, checked them over and told me they are recently rebuilt, slid some bands on to help determine how much travel I'm using, and wrote down settings to use. FREE. I couldn't give the guy money. The settings? Just about perfect, in 3 seasons on my Renegade I never got them working this good. Im going to start tearing all my toys suspension apart so I can send him my business lol...

No it has nothing to do with comparing penis sizes, I am in the market for either 8:16 or hopefully I will be able to snow check a 17 and I want to know if I should keep the stock floats upgrade to rc2 or get axis shocks
 
I gotta say my stock coilovers on my ltx dx havent disapointed me yet . Once i set up for my weight i havent touched it . Also it rides better then my revalved electronic Apex ever did. And i dont miss screwing with adjustments on the trail. I avoided the floats on purpous when I bought my sled after reading about all the failures because of ice penetrating the shocks and the harsh ride unless they were revalved. Maybe after throwing more money at the floats and daily trailside adjustments they are better but straight out of the box you cant beat the stock coilovers ..
 
If you were here locally I would say lets swap shocks, I have axis. And you could try them. But I put the axis on my nytro last fall. My father still had Floats on his viper. I rode mine and his back to back and felt the nytro was actually a better riding and handling sled. He put a set of Elkas on, the only change and I rode it cpl weeks ago back to back on same trail we just rode back and forth over and it was smoother flatter and more predictable than the nytro. Actually made me decide that after march 1 to decide on a new sled or left over viper (with qs3, or my axis swapped over)
