I called yamaha canada friday feb 7th and they said there was no shortages on drive axles and they were not back ordered in canada they put me on hold looked up the part number and said they have lots in stock hopefully they weren't lyingI ordered a complete driveshaft online a few days ago and just received a email that it is on nationwide back order. Does anyone know where I can get one
After 3 months I received my P.O.S. new driveshaft. I paid for it knowing it was way undersize. Should have told them to stuff it since not putting it in anytime soon! Smells like Corona Virus badly.

How bad is it Cannon? After 3 months I received my P.O.S. new driveshaft. I paid for it knowing it was way undersize. Should have told them to stuff it since not putting it in anytime soon!
New bearing wobbles pretty bad on it. Shaft should be 1.77165 so mine is .003 too small. Easily corrected with BOP driveshaft saver but they still have not learned. How bad is it Cannon?

Probably just bad manufacturing tolerances.New bearing wobbles pretty bad on it. Shaft should be 1.77165 so mine is .003 too small. Easily corrected with BOP driveshaft saver but they still have not learned.

How bout buying an aftermarket shaft..like maybe Black Diamond? Has anybody heard anything good about them? Perhaps maybe made better than Cat/Yamaha?

Yes crazy corona virus manufacturing tolerances.
Just from watching on different posts from here, I have heard tolerances from .001 - all the way to Snowbeast what was it .007 or .008.
Just freakin unacceptable, specially if they are on backorder and still come in that way now that the crazy tolerances problems have been identified by many but not corrected. Even If?
I dropped my shaft and caliper off at my dealer this past fall. We discussed the problem to make sure that “They The Dealer” relays to Yamaha what the problem is with tolerances. I was told yes they have a tolerance problem, but the main issue is in the Slip Fit design of the caliper bearing. It should be a pressed on design but of course that would mean redesigning that application. But yes Yamaha surely knows about both problems, and in fact it will happen again because we are just fixing your worn parts with same faulty design.
With all this being said, and knowing what kind of loose tolerances some have had on their new parts, I was sure to try slipping my new caliper bearing on to the shaft while we were talking. Mine was a tight slip fit with .001, had to work it on slowly to get it on, and then it came off with a struggle. After doing that, service guy looked at me and said, yep still won’t last because that design is flawed. I appreciated the honesty and asked what should I do to make it last.
They recommended loctite. I am on my 4 of 5 year warranty at this point ,and I will say that they have stood behind that without any resistance! But for those without, outrage!

Don't loctite it. Been there, done that. Didn't work for me. Neither did the set screw thru the shaft trick.
The only thing that you stand a chance with is the Barn of Parts driveshaft saver wedge. Do it when new and you should not have a problem as long as you tighten it enough.

Thanks for doing that. I did same with a bearing off their shelf. It’s a corporate thing. Not dealer. Corporate has to see a loss $ wise before change is made.Yes crazy corona virus manufacturing tolerances.

Many people put green locktight when new and it works.... green locktight is made exactly for this type of tolerance....It has work in the past whit 1100t and it works now to whit 998T, you must have been unlucky...Don't loctite it. Been there, done that. Didn't work for me. Neither did the set screw thru the shaft trick.
