2012 Apex XTX 2017 Sidewinder LTX-LE
it is a demo with about 500 miles on it I do weigh 250 without gear. I know or I think I know this is the model people say don't transfer well. Is that just with a light rider on the machine. being a le it has the nice shocks on it. Can anyone advise to the good/bad and what model one should buy coming off of and being in love with 2012 apex XTX?

If you were coming from a 2 stroke then I would warn you about the added weight but since you are coming off an Apex you will love the SW. I had an Apex and to me the SW does everything better in spades. My Apex never transferred weight very well but it was an 06. I would assume the SW would transfer better than your Apex and ride and handle much better also. If you are getting a good deal on the SW then I wouldn't hesitate for one second.

I consider my apex to be the perfect machine for the ridding I do just want more power in a reliable way. seeing as they have no plans to continue the apex or at least so it seems (BOO Yamaha should have done a turbo apex with 250HP if you ask me) I need to move in the direction they are heading. I had a SC on my apex and really loved it but it was not reliable and I was the weakest link for gas too. I know I would like a Sidewinder I am wondering if anyone hates this model and if so why.

One ride on a Winder you'll wonder why you didn't do it sooner.

I owned countless Apex's and put thousands of miles on them, then I switched to 1200 Doo's in 09 till this spring, bought a 2011 Apex XTX in between there and got rid of it after only a few weeks, I didn't like it, family didn't like it, back to the 1200's, ran them in NA form and turbo, loved the 1200 Doo! Then I got a ride on a Winder, knew right away I'd have to have one.

There's not one machine out there right now that could spark my interest other than the Winder.

IMO time has left the Apex in the dust. There is a reason Yamaha is shelving it! Yes, the Winder is sooooo much better in every way other than the ease of steering.

I have a friend wanting to trade in his low mile Apex on a Winder or 9000 YamaCat, but the dealer doesn't even want his Apex on trade at all. He's struggling to sell it cheap, the thing is mint too!
2014 with 950 miles! https://minneapolis.craigslist.org/dak/snw/d/yamaha-apex/6180081100.html

Yup....what they said ^^^. I've had allot of people jump on my Sidewinder LTX LE and they all come back with the same #*$&@ eating grin on their faces and just say "Wow!" Not one complaint yet.
I think that about says it all!

none of you wish you would have gotten a different model?

Every sled has different manners .
I have an Apex XTX , with the star kit and it transfers real nice . (fun nice)
I love that sled , but I really love my SW LTX-LE , even without all the transfer of the Apex.
The LE shock package is great .
I have had O issues with my sled .
The only reason I am not still driving with the original belt , is because I drove with the parking brake on , and flat spotted the belt.
Get it .
Hope it is the red one , as it is faster than blue.

My LTX-LE has proved to be the ultimate replacement for my 144" Apex. I've done a few things to the SW such as add a little more traction (1.5" lug track) and I can take it anywhere off trail that I could with my 144" Apex.

The trail manners of this beast are outstanding if you just need to cruise along and the ride is sooooooo much better than my old Apex especially when the trail gets whooped out.

It just does everything better than my former Apex.

That means allot coming from you I know how much you loved your apex and all the work you did to it is close to the same as I did to mine I think you did more in some ways and I did more in others. Thanks for the reply.

It's all good. If you'd like to have a chat with me about the SW send me a PM and I'll give you my phone number. ;)!

Keep your Apex...... Just saying!
