Could you go back to a 2 stroke?

Trade my 4 for a 2 ... ?

Hmm, I dunno guys, you know afterall, an F7 did win the stock 1000 class @ Haydays this year.

HAHAHAAH.

Nah, I'll never go back. I like the smell of my sled too much, (or lack therof smell) I should say.

I probably couldn't totally go back but I really wouldn't mind having a piped '01 SRX with M-10 or Expert X suspension under it to play with.

Part of me says no......but if I could buy a new srx...I think I would be back on a two stroke. At the very least I would have one of each.

I would never get rid of my 4 stroke for a 2 stroke, but like others, if I could get a 01 SRX I wouldn't mind having one of each. Atm I do have a 2 stroke but I haven't driven it in a few years and I am currently looking at selling it.

I'm still riding a 2 stroke, but I can't wait to get another 4 stroke - (had one for one season and loved it) - however, I will never part with all of my SRX's - it is kind of like having a classic car - really gets your blood flowing everytime you drive it - but do you want to drive it all of the time? - no - now, if they came out with an 800 triple SRX with EFI, current suspension, and digital instruments would I buy one? - in a heartbeat!!! ;)!

No I will never go back to a 2 stroke, unless I absolutely had to just to ride. After all 2 stroke or 4 stroke, snowmobiling is snowmobiling, and I love it either way. Last year I enjoyed not having to take the hood off for the whole year. All I did was gas and go. Also for my 150hp Apex I still have the original belt and spark plugs. This can probaly not be said for most Mach Z owners. I am a kind of guy who is not much of a mechanic, I would rather be riding than changing or fixing stuff any day and the four stroke allows me do that. I have about 3000 miles on my sled now and my warranty will end in December 2010 and I plan to keep the sled all the way till then and hopefully have over 10,000 miles by that time. When the warranty ends I will see how much my sled is worth at the time, and I will then either sell it or keep it. Although either way I be in the market for a used low mile 2009 Nitro at the time.

Not Unless I had to. The reason I chose Yamaha over (insert brand name here) is because they had gone completely to 4strokes.

I don't care if they weigh more. (it only matters if you are stuck)
I don't care if they cost a bit more up front (I have more than saved the difference). (don't forget you get what you pay for)

You can only get a GOOD 4stroke from Yamaha but you can get an OK 2stoke from anybody.

I've been going back and forth the last 4 years, but it's going to be 4-stroke all the way from now on. The fuel-mileage by it self is enough to justify the 4-strokes, and especially the Vector. The 120-engine is the best engine ever made IMO! It's just fantastic! ;)!

Allthough my '02 SRX was a true gem! The sound, smoothness and horsepower.... WOW!

In general, I'd have to say 'no'. Reliability/durability of the power plant being the only real consideration...Ok, they REAK! too. However, if the price is right (especially for a second or 3rd sled), I might consider it.

A lot of you have mentioned gas mileage as a reason for a 4 stroke. How many miles a year do you ride? If a 4 stroke (Vector not Apex) got 21 MPG and a 2 stroke got 13MPG diff 8MPG. In my case because of location and mother nature 1700 miles would be a good year. Vector 81 gallons 2 smoke 130 gallons dif 49 gallons cost 150 dollars. Ok now throw in 3 gallons of Klotz at what 40 a gallon 120 bucks. total 270 bucks!!!! My payment was 216 on 4 stroke so just over one month payment for the whole year. So with the payment on a 4 stroke unless you ride 20,000 miles a year that argument don't fly!!! And we know the Apex really ony get maybe 17MPG if you can keep your thumb out of it! I am entitled to my .02 cents.

I don't think anyone's truly saying that gas mileage alone is the deciding factor. I think it's the culmination of a list of things.

rhoag if you want to drive a 2 stroke it's ok! you don't have to explane yourself!
