X2So can a Lighter, more Powerful, PROPERLY CLUTCHED, more Efficient 600 take an 850 on snow to a 1/4 mile.

I think a lot of their driveline engineers left for Polaris after Textron purchased them. Seems like cat made the smart decision having a contractor evaluate their systems and offer corrections.If this test mule Catalyst that Thunder Products has in their posession is not very close to the production sled, why in the world would Arctic Cat be having them fine tune the clutching for it?

INDEED! And they have just plain been terrible at clutching sleds for the last few years! They ran such light weights in recent years that it caused engine failures IMO. You cant keep banging the rev limiter on a bare bones 2 smoke stock sled.I think a lot of their driveline engineers left for Polaris after Textron purchased them. If you are talking about the 8000 it's been a mess since day 1.INDEED! And they have just plain been terrible at clutching sleds for the last few years! Agree 110 percent.If you are talking about the 8000 it's been a mess since day 1.
I think the 6000 is actually a.pretty good motor. Probably going to pick up a 2019 rx-c in a year or so when I see one up for sale.

I had both last year.
The RX-c 600 was a fun sled. I thought it was pretty quick for a 600. The harder you rode it, the better it was. 28-year-old me would have LOVED that sled, 54-year-old me needs something a little softer. Sold it to my future son-in-law.
I rode the 800 most of the year. Reflashed the ECU and reclutched it. It was MUCH better and smoother running motor afterwards. It was a very, very good handling sled. It showed me the limits of the QS3 shocks. I really liked the sled. Sold it in the spring.
I have one sled now. I keep going back and forth about having 2 sleds. It seems like I don't have enough time to ride one.

Cat made a great move with coming out with the Catalyst 600. It seems all the folks I ride with use a 600, they say its lighter to handle, better on gas, no problem for the ladies to ride including my wife, easier to get out of a snow bank and with a 600 it's all the power they need to get around, especially on tight trails. Seems everyone I know is riding a 600 Doo, so if Cat can come out with something new and exciting it may help propel increased revenue...smart move to try to capture a new audience. If it turns out to be a great sled then they will get more market share, if not what have they really lost...not that much.
The only men riding a 600 were forced too because of rules,$ or blowing 800class motors. There is such a little difference in weight why would you not want the noticeable real world power difference that you can feel and see?

I agree, but using your logic it begs the question why are you on a Viper and not a Winder.....?The only men riding a 600 were forced too because of rules,$ or blowing 800class motors. This is why I got the 8000 instead of 6000.. I regret it now and the next one for the wife will be a 6000 in a year or two. Steve was comparing a 600cc vs 800cc non-aspirated engines as I am pretty sure I know his views with Yamaha putting a turbo on their engine and why he rides the Viper and not the Sidewinder.I agree, but using your logic it begs the question why are you on a Viper and not a Winder.....?

Am I the only one who thinks this new sled is FUGLY? They go from best looking to ugly in one fell swoop! Yes, I am back after putting vette in storage for winter back to the Sidewinder forum from Corvette forum!

I'm betting the new big bore is an 880. I was just watching an older snowtrax youtube and they said those rumors were false ; but also specifically said someone leaked info they weren't supposed to. Sounds to me like someone in product development got ahead of themselves in terms of when the 880 was going to actually get released.

Lots of us own a 998 as we probably moved up from the 800/850 or triples. So now we have a group that has fast but heavier sleds and want something lighter. So why go 850 when we have 998's?
For me a 600 is fine, hell my kids zr 4000 RR will keep up with every sled through the woods and that's an 85hp 500cc.
