I use the summer time as a break, it gets very busy for me trying to take off early out of work and balance trips with work and wife time. But blasting across a lake with a blown big block really helps me to get by the summer. I enjoy the four seasons we have in WI, excellent state to live in. I get pretty pumped as soon as labor day goes by then its all about sledding from that point on. Its a very expensive sport and so are my other hobbies, if it was a 6 month season I would go broke for sure. Spring and fall are my recoup funds time.
I have all of the seasons covered between hunting, fishing, camping, atv riding and snowmobiling. Snowmobiling is the season I look forward to the most. I am good for at least once a week looking in the trailer during the off season. Been known for cracking a beer and sitting on my sled on hot summer days...lol. I also read this site and a couple others that are snowmobile related every day..... I love riding..........

I'm a sledder 365 days a year and I never lose interest. Summer kills me as I just want to ride the sled, Lol!
Maybe I should move to the North Pole. or at least somewhere I can ride into mid June, like they can in the higher elevations.
People think I'm nutz, but winters just flat out are not long enough for me here in northern MN.

I think sledding is my favorite past-time. My work as a carpentry contractor (or lack of) allows me to move snowmobiling up on the priority list during the slower winter months. When spring kills any riding opportunities, it is time to start getting the Sea Ray 23' out and start working on it. My wife loves to sled as much as I do and it's a great thing to share with her. She doesn't go as often as I do, but that allows plenty of "guy time". Summer is boating time. Problem is that I can't go with 12 friends. It's more work and coordination to get a group of boaters out. The "Ray" runs 35mph top speed. That isn't much of a rush. Great substitute for sledding, just not the same. We named the boat "SUMMER SLED" 'cause boating helps pass time 'til snow season.
When frost starts to threaten the boat, it goes awawy and sleds come out for pre-season prep and repair.

I have an open trailer and keep the sleds in the garage. I have to keep myself from messing around with them over the non-riding seasons. My neighbors look at me wierd when I have them in the driveway cleaning them 4-5 times during the summer. Changing oils, greasing bearings, removing rear suspensions, you name it, I do it during the spring, summer, and fall.

As soon as it gets warm (like now) I shift to my bike and start planning our trip down to deals Gap (aka tail of the dragon 318 curves in 11 miles) for the end of April. Then it's track days on the bike. Hunting in the fall and start planning our weekend before Christmas ride to the UP on the sleds. Been like this for 11 years.

off season is for thinkingabout an purchasing mods. sleds run at least once a month in the off season but i do not start on mods untill after moose season. summer is filled with going to camp, fishing and riding/modding my bikes.

One thing I've learned over the past few years is get as much riding done as possible in February and March until you are completely sick of it. I know it's not as "exciting" as in January, and spring/summer does kind of sound good, but it only takes me a few weeks of spring/summer to realize just how much better winter is. My mindset used to be "September is right around the corner." But ever since we've been getting these January thaws, the good riding hasn't even started until the end of January.
