Drove the XF 9000 Cross Country Limited (137)

The Tcat on Cat's page shows 24/50....the reports from one of the Mags put the sidewinder way out front...why? Gearing.
As someone else posted and quoted, it was said the Yamaha had 'longer legs' up top.
The Tcat is only available as one track length...137. Was the sidewinder a 137?

From what I was told the faster of the pre-pro for some reason was the XTX but I think they have the same gearing.

Even the 21/41 seems low to me,it may get you 120 but no way will it get ya 130's,need more gear for sure.

Wow now that don't make any sense, that big lug track must of pulled some top speed loss,i will have to ask keith woods what track he had on the sled he drove.

Just to correct the cat gearing will be the same as the yami gearing depending on tracks lengths used. IT was reported incorrectly on cats site and we will see when the production sleds come. That never made any sense as the only real difference between the Sidewinder and Thunder cat is the jackshaft(to accommodate the BOSS Team clutch) and both clutches. Al else is the same with the exception of plastic and stickers and choice of shocks. Cheers

if this is Jester from Hardcore- I'd believe him....full of good info

I know and I asked and it was incorrect. I was told same as the Sidewinder of the same length. I have no doubt the Yamaha version is faster and that is because of the cat team clutches. We spent most of the season getting the 16's to top end. A quick switch to the secondary(torsional conversion) and wammo 9 mph better. Later in the season a few were able to get the team clutches to work much better by changing out weights, helix and both springs(D&D). After doing this the 16s were very fast and the best cat has offered overall by a long shot. No belt issues either by the way. They handled and rode much better than the 15. The QS3 shocks are the bomb!!

AND yes I am Jester from HCS. Cheers

I tried alot of different clutching in my 2011 Apex XTX when it was new, but my friend with the same sled didn't touch his clutching, and we tested alot. The orginal clutching was the best in most conditions.
When I bought the sled it come with a 1,75 backcountry. That track was a little soft for hardpacked snow, but very nice in softsnow conditions.
Today I have added a turbo to the sled, and changed the track to a 2" challenger extreme, cut to 1.65" , no studs. It's very stiff, perfect to much power.

That's funny you mentioned clutching the xtx ape, mine was a 15 and I already had a brand new set of heelclickers DFW that work awesome on an older 121 apex unvalved sled, but I could not make them heavy enough for the 15 valved xtx,I did helix's springs front and secondary, tossed every set up turk and I used years ago at it,and my best top end set up was bonne stock, every time.
