ECP MOD (Maximum Oxygen Delivery) Airbox final results.

Freddie,,, The power sounds good ,but, I got to tell you I dont like the idea of cutting up my hood. I just got my new RX-1 yesterday, and I just went out and looked at the hood and I dont see how it could be cut out and look like the others. But I will what to see how it looks when you get it done...

Cutting the hood not a problem. Some type of chrome grill would be cool. Whatever it takes to kick everyone elses #$%&*

Damn- it Bountyhunter, you and I have to hook up this year in the "Holy Land" = Canada. You and I think alike, too much alike. Lets cut up that ghost flamed hood, listen to some Sam Roberts Band, Drink some Kokanee and ride some sleds.........Cubby

I agree that forced air works. Remember the ram air Hemi's? Don't the Firecats have ram air?

Do you think the ram air worked on the Vipers? I know it didn't go directly into the air box. What about snow injestion?

Isn't there a point where the ram air will start working? It seems like the forced air will have to be faster than the speed of the air normally through the carbs, at any given speed. It seems like it would only help at the higher speeds. If it helped at moderate speeds, wouldn't it be on all cars, even the compacts? The carmakers would love a cheap hp gain. Wouldn't you gain gas mileage also?

I know there are enough people that would do anything to go 131mph instead of 129mph, to make it a successful product, but I just wondered if the old guys, with common sense, can benifit from it also.

The Vipers are not true RAM AIR !! They are more of a cold air intake.. THis is what ive read anyway... It makes sense as the box looks very restrictive!! Bad flow!!

Too answer your other question.. Ya car makers can and would benifit from a ram air setup.. But they also are trying to make cars CHEAP, QUIET, RELIABLE And meet emissions!! All of which more hp goes against!! New grand ams come with Ram air intakes but they are like the Viper sleds.. More of a cold air intake then a Forced induction!!

My 84' camaro has a cowl hood which acts as a Ram air... It cause a turbulance behind the hood which forces air into the Airfilter.. It is good for 20+ hp on the top end!!

airbox kit

Is there any lost weight with this kit? I would assume that your filter kit helps to lose some weight, this probably does not? Does the ram air help make more dense air in the airbox to provide power, because it seems that the air speed thru the carbs would be way faster that the sled would go?

cutting the hood is not a problem, That's how all of the other sleds get cold air also.

That sounds like one heck of a good Idea! ;)! ;)! ;)! ;)! ;)! ;)! ;)! ;)! ;)! :drink: :drink: :drink:

I also intend to offer these for the 3 cylinder 4 stroke Yamaha sleds. I just haven't had the luxury yet of getting one in the shop. If anyone wants to step up, I will make it worth your while. Even if it is brand new and not broken in, I could lay it all out thereby making it easier to release once we get the chance to test it on the dyno.

I might be up for that, I should be picking mine up at New England in a few days.....

i would love to cut up my 05 hood if it would inprove performance, just wondering about those monster jets. how much milage would that take off. more fuel to it, more stops at the pump. learned that with the srx. what do you think?

yamahajunkie, actually the reverse occurs. I know others as well as myself actually saw improvements in the MPG after installing the filter kit and that was with 165 mains.
