EFI Synchronization

I got 9.5 miles per gallon on one of my first outtings this season on my Apex which I bought as a dealer demo with 1078 miles on it. Brought it up to my dealer and they told me I need to bring it in for the synchronization.

I hope I get better mileage after this. They asked me if the sled "burbles" at idle when I first start it. Yep sure does. These guys are good!!

Just to let you all know the reccomended way of setting up the injector sync is NOT with a manometer. The proper and reccomended tool is called a vacummate and is a digital syscronization tool. It is much more sensitive and results in easy and accurate settings. Unfortunately the tool is quite expensive (about $500.00-$700.00)so the only people that are likely to have it are at the dealers or busy aftermarket shops.I use this tool daily and it is the only way to do the set-up quickly and accurately.

A side note:make sure your plugs are good before doing a setup as weak plugs will affect the results on this meter(yes it is that sensitive) even though you don't have a missfire issue.

Wish I had a 4/. Good reading information here.

I wonder what affect the EBRS system has on what you are doing. To my (reading) understanding….one of the parameters the ECU is looking for (information that is used to control the EBRS) is engine coolant temperature.

This system is part of the idle system as well. So if the engine is cold – the little valve is open allowing more air until the temperature climbs then it closes down to electronically control the 1500 rpm range. No matter what position the butterflies are in.

My question….do you shut this system off to sync – or how do you determine you have synced – with this little valve opening and closing and letting extra air in.

Or….is the EBRS and Idle control – external of what you are doing?

Thanks

does it do like mine?? Mine starts up and idles normal for a few seconds and then burbles and sounds real rich and then it clears up and runs good for a little while and then burbles some more and so on till the engine is warmed up and then it never does it again till the next morning. Let me know how it works after you get this done.
