Engine Cuts Out

This happened to me when I lined up to race my buddies 800 etec yesterday. I was leaning forward and grabbed the throttle and it cut out. I was thinking it was the angle of hand, adjusted and grabbed the throttle again and it cut out again. The best description I can give is it was like the kill switch was turned off and on. I stopped as did my buddy. I sat normally on the sled as I would just riding and hit it a third time and all was fine. Yes, I beat the etec :) But it is one strong sled keeping with me for several feet out of the hole until I start walking away. This was with 140 miles on the sled. First and only time I had any issues. Sled is stock with cat rollers and 144 1.325 studs.

140 miles on mine when this first started. I never grabbed the throttle from a stop, no studs so not sure mine wouldn't do the same. Guessing you will see it again, it seems intermittent, hardest thing to fix.

No answer from dealer yet. Guess no one else having the issue, thread died.

Mine is going in Sunday. I made my dealer aware, but he said I'm the first one he's heard of with this issue.

Mine should have been dropped off at dealers this morning but highways are all closed due to weather. Not sure when it will go in now, butI'll update with any new info when I'm able.

Seems to be the standard answer. With to-days technology, there is no reason whatsoever that all the dealers in the world could not be plugged into a world wide data base. Our sledding season is way to short, to spend half of it having problems, that should have immediate solutions. After all, this is 2017. Wake up Yamaha, and get out of the dark ages.

Are the Thunder cats doing this? Or is this just a sidewinder issue?

I was wondering the same thing, tried to look at some of their forums but didn't find anything. Not to familiar with their sites however.

My STX-DX did the same thing once, at 19 miles, drove slow for about a mile thinking "Here we go with the problems", and when I hit it again it cleared up. Hasn't done it again, over 900mi now.

The only way it can be dionosed is with lab scope if tps dropping out happening to fast to set code also could be in boast protection seeing something it doesent like and shutts it dfown for protection interesting issues looking forward to finding fix
