9 pages of reading will get you your answer. Yes it can be done. I just wanted to verify that there were no problems on a 2018, didn't see anyone actually say they did one.

The 17 and 18 model year sleds require a jumper harness to be made to connect. They have the olders style handle bar controls and new harness won't work with those years unless one gets all newer handle bar controls and harness.
19 and 20 model years have current hand controls and either harness replacement or jumper harness to make work.
22 and up are just plug and play.
The connector part numbers required are in the pages of this thread.

I have read all pages numerous times but didn't see anyone actually say they installed one on a 2018. I wanted to ask before I ordered the parts. Thanks to all who took the time to really dig into this installation and share their findings here on TY !!

it will work. you just need to read up on the connectors and make the jumper harnesses (one for power, and one for speed signal - very simple) Connector part numbers and sourcing is here. All the information you need to do this is in this thread. Take the time to read it thoroughly and you will have no issues. Feel free to pm after you get the parts and are ready to do the install if you have further questionsI have read all pages numerous times but didn't see anyone actually say they installed one on a 2018. Has anyone looked at the description of the '25 EPS unit on the new sleds. It almost sounds like it may not be using any imput from the ECU...plus it sounds like it's lighter. May have a stand alone control module. Early speculation??? Would be nice if they specifically made a kit for retro-fit.
YAMAHA VARIABLE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING (EPS)
Yamaha's newest generation of Electric Power Steering (EPS) has reduced weight by over three pounds and incorporates a "brushless" DC motor for improved reliability and performance. Variable Assist EPS utilizes a magnetic torque sensor that measures steering input based on torsion or 'twist' of the steering post, which is calculated from handlebar input and ski resistance. This data is suppled to an integrated control module which, in turn, signals the brushless servo-motor to assist the steering through its powered, worm-gear drive assembly. All together it gives a more balanced, natural feel or 'connection' to the terrain, and effectively reduces the steering effort required while enhancing predictability for greater rider confidence and less fatigue.earthling

Thats the way they always worked, basically, thats how all electronic power steering works. The EPS doesn't need to talk to the ECU, it just needs to receive the canbus messages for speed which are on the canbus wire pair.

That is comparing to the earlier apex/vector eps units, no difference between the SW years eps.Has anyone looked at the description of the '25 EPS unit on the new sleds. So no change from the previous SW powersteering...ok. Never read up on the previous year model's PS description. So I won't pull the one out of my '13 Apex...Haha!That is comparing to the earlier apex/vector eps units, no difference between the SW years eps.

I had a 11 apex and had the opportunity to try a esp SW, even though it was only for a few minutes there’s no comparison between the two, the apex was nice but the SW eps brings it to another level.Anxious to see how it works for you.

Well, I took the plunge and ordered the parts to do this conversion. This will be on an 18. Thanks to all that put in the effort to make this happen!
