I would be more concerned as to why your fan came on at 100mph the air coming in at that speed should be more than enough to keep it cool even with no exchanger. That little fan even in normal rotation would be little help at that speed.
You have been by all the posts and my own experience last weekend. Give it up if your happy going backwards all the time have at it.Prove me wrong I guess?
Thats a valid point. My AFR was at 12.8 so will be richening it up a bit. I obviously dont know if fan was on while I was doing 100 but it was on immediately when I slowed down as was the red light.I would be more concerned as to why your fan came on at 100mph the air coming in at that speed should be more than enough to keep it cool even with no exchanger. I can tell you going down a road with my fan reversed on a switch temp at 168 - if I turned the fan on the temp would go up to 185, switch the an off and it would drop back to normal. I liked the idea of being able to suck the heat out of the hood when stopped - but doesn't cool well when moving!
I agree it wont take much force to redirect flow even at 100mph. Look what happens to a NASCAR when a candy wrapper sticks onto vent. Dont care. Problem does not happen stock. May do a switch though since I will miss warming hands up over radiator on a trail break.

Yes, in normal operating the fan does not come on at speed so no problem. At 100mph you are forcing way more air in than the fan could pull, if you get hot I would be concerned about something else or run ice scratchers

It should go up in temp when the fan is running and you are going forward. The fan should not run then as more air comes through from force than the fan would move

I was riding in colorado 4' snow last week and had ice scratchers on and was running trails and overheated and went into limp mode. I noticed i had ice buildup on the front screen. I had to fish my arm under the hood to try to get the switch off. I didnt notice the ice buildup right away but was running deep powder before i ran the trails. I will deal with the stock setup and steam.
Stingray let it go. Problem is solved for me. put another 120mi on that day and no problems. Ice scratchers is ridiculus the whole skid and tunnel was full of snow. Just was sticking. Maybe WD40 the thing down before doing a run like that and it wont happen? Not.Yes, in normal operating the fan does not come on at speed so no problem. All of us last weekend had ice buildup on the radiator here in Colorado with the deep powder snow. Some regular fan some reversed and mine with radiator and NO fan. In our case it didn't matter powder snow gets everywhere....at least in our case

Really? You started an "air box warning" thread about my air box mod and it was not my mod problem as regular air box owners had the same problem with the divider. Now you run your sled at lean AFR and the fan reverse is the problem. Try it again with correct AFR and see. Or ask for your money back on the mod.....lol
You are wrong Stingray the airbox mod was not about you at all. I bent that support before even knowing you did. Go read it again. Also reread the above posts. I had no more issues running the same AFR. Only difference was fan was stock=Reverse fan is problem. This is not about you. If you have a problem with me PM me or call me.

Stingray719- Why do you instantly go into defense mode when somebody brings up an issue with something you have "fixed" or "modded"?? Cannon just posted HIS experience and stated it as a warning. Not everything you come up with will work for EVERYONE EVERY TIME they ride. Let it go man.
And for the record, my fan is reversed and on a switch. Now if I have an issue in the future, the first thing I'll do is switch it back and see if that fixes it. But I'm guessing it won't considering the venting I have done.
