I changed fan direction also and have seen fluctuations in coolant temp, from 165 to 217. I think this fan reversal is an issue as this is the first year I tried it. I changed it back tonight but, have not rode sense.I did say its a WARNING. Go ahead and do it if you choose. My problem is solved. Put it back to stock.
I don't remember that much temp range from last year.

ENOUGH... take it for what it is and move on. Add it or not, you choose as with any mods there me be unknown risks.

So what are the chances that we can triple the power to the existing fan and use it to gain us another 5 mph? Must be capable of spinning faster than 115 mph air flow

I thought about adding an option for a DPDT switch to change the fan for forward or reverse but wasn't sure show many people would be interested in it. I get one made up and start offering that as well.

Would people prefer a longer harness to have the switch mounted to to the area behind the windshield (drill a hole and mount the switch) or just put it in line with the harness and reach under the hood to switch it?

Why do even Yamaha use these stupid radiators? What's wrong with tunnel coolers?? I mean, they work for everyone else!!!

Make it long enough to mount switch by gas tank fill. Like seat heater is mounted. my experience from Colorado.....
Had the fan reversed, screens plugged full, snow everywhere inside the panels, no steam by the handlebars and no issues overheating.
"Project SRX" broke a drive axle and pulled the SRX with the Viper about 2-3 miles back to ALexander lodge so I could go back and pick up the sled with the truck. Didn't overheat and because the drive axle broke....we had no choice other than lock up the brake on the SRX and pull it back with my Viper. The restraint was so much that with every hard spot or bump the front end of my viper was in the air about 2 feet.....never overheated.
This fan reversal may be for guys who ride off-trail or slow moving conditions only. ????

Maybe yours runs cooler because you have that fancy water cooled turbo keeping your under hood temps lower...

I've thought about this switch too but what will happen to the the fan when the switch is flipped while the fan is on? Even with instructions saying only to flip switch when fan is off, eventually someone will do it. A three position switch would do the trick, middle position would be off

Excellent idea! Just stop in the middle position for maybe 2 seconds? Just let it slow down a bit and let the magnetic field collapse in the fan motor before changing the polarity.A three position switch would do the trick, middle position would be off

My only concern about an on-off-on DPDT switch is that someone may accidentally leave it in the off position. I suppose that the ECU monitors coolant temperature and will warn you before damage occurs.

1) forward (normal auto)
2) off
3) reverse (normal auto)
I have mine reversed and find exchanger does just fine for me until I stop and idle. I swapped my terminals from cavity to cavity, but I may just do it Stingray style and trim out the keying so I can do a trailside swap if necessary. Then again I may just leave it the way I have it. If for some reason it gets hot I'll just have to stop and let it cool.
