Don't know if I mentioned already that when I GPS'd 116, my speedo read 124!
When I was all stock, My speedo was at 119 and GPS 116. Under 100 they are very close and once into the mid to high 120’s more like 4 off. Very close compared to Yamahas of past! Stock gearing was 21/41.

I'm going to run the 24/48 next year which is only slightly lower than 21/41. Also have decided to try the ultimax belt instead of the 8dn in order to bring back top speed.I like having 24/50 gears with my tuned sled it works well for trail guys...imo

Maybe some models vary slightly...? I would think all GPS are accurate. When I was all stock, My speedo was at 119 and GPS 116. Under 100 they are very close and once into the mid to high 120’s more like 4 off. Very close compared to Yamahas of past! Stock gearing was 21/41.

That could very well be possible. My buddies 17 RTX-LE speedo sees much the same as mine when compared to GPS.Maybe some models vary slightly...? I would think all GPS are accurate.
But both models are LE (mine LTX his RTX) and geared and tuned the same. 22/41 MX Spool 16 3 bar .
His 08 Apex is way off. 137 speedo “123 GPS.

24/50 gearing takes a 92 link chain.

So that is 9 mph difference between speedo and GPS these sleds on snow are still all over the place, thats why I always have GPS mounted on dash.24/48 with 8dn belt. 9600rpm, tapped Rev limiter here. Speedometer showed 200km

Your cat speedo is just as off as the yamacats are,i had 2013 cat zuk same speedo same distance between gps and speedos, conditions for fair comparison between speedo and GPS are very hard conditions, any lose snow changes things in a hurry.Yamaha does that to speedos so they get more sales.

Bingo, correct!!IMO w no studs and adding more boost, all the more reason to gear up more. IMO, 24/50 is even too low for stock sleds. My Cat came w 24/50. When I geared it up to 21/38, it transformed the sled completely. It felt like a totally different sled and much faster even corner to corner. I marked my clutches and found out how easily it was shifted all the way up and out of gear.

Im having my dealer put 24/50 in in my 20 before I pick it up. I'll run it stock for the first year maybe! My turbo viper had 24/50 gears and overdrive clutches, I was very happy with that for trail riding . Only ever had one opportunity to hold it wide open in 4 years.

I decided not to go with my 24/50 so I have brand new from Cat 24T, 50T and 92 chain I need to get rid of if anyone is interested... In Canada is easier for shipping.
What's the difference in doing the 21/38 VS 22/41 for top speed and general trail riding?
