You are right, especially with the lower gearing like 24/50. But if conditions are not ideal, the stocker may not get there while the tuned sled probably will.
Also, when it comes to top speed the tuned sled is more likely to rev past its power peak(once the clutches are fully shifted) and tap the limiter more so than the stocker. I'm not advocating doing this on a regular basis, I'm just saying that it can.
