My first sled was a 1981 Jag 292cc Air cooled with cleat bars. Wow was that thing ever a finicky sled to ride. My first Yammy was a 1984 Excell III with electric start and guantlets. Great little sled, and pretty dang fancy for a 10 year old kid!

My first sleds were a package deal for two used cats.
The first was a 79 Panther with a Wankle (sp) motor that backfired and blew the timing everytime I rode it. The second was a 82 Pantera that is still around and was a nice sled in its day. I then bought a 84 Trail Cat (probably the worst sled Cat ever built) and haven't owned a cat since. I worked my way through Polaris and Ski-Doo and now own several Yamaha's!!!

started on my dad's 77 olympic at age 6 then he went to a 81 everest 500,hard on engines that one.when i was 15,i bought my first sled,an 84 silver phazer with 7000 miles on it and the owner told me the speedo hadnt worked the prior season, awesome sled,it had power and a suspension at the time.traded her in at 12000 miles on a 94 formula z.great power but not for long, quickly realized i had made a mistake,i wisely switched back to yammy.98 vmax xt,02 viper,04 rx warrior and 99 vmax 700 deluxe for the wife.now she has a brand new phazer gt

OK, dont laugh, starcraft 440. The bogie wheels were faster than the sled when they fell off.

First sled
My first sled was a Chaparral SS/III with the 400 Fuji engine. All aluminum tunnel. That thing was a blast. I still have it in storage. Might have to restore it someday. It still runs and looks great.

First sled was a Polaris early 60's had an all steel track and a 8hp motor I think. Same time that winter Dad got a 65? Polaris Colt? 12 or 15hp. We ran that in circles in the field for hours.
Couple years later we had a brand new 1969 Rustler 18hp made by Allied Farm Equipment. Life was good.
My first sled that I bought was a 1974 Moto-Ski with a 440 BSE engine. Smoothest riding sled in its day but would get stuck in a foot of snow and wouldn't climb an anthill.
