Forgot just what a blast these Winders are!

This sled is by far the most fun to ride once you have the steering figured out . Came up on some younger guys that do the stand up thing going down the trail . Made short work of them with in a couple miles lol

We were all over this weekend too. Gravenhurst Saturday for the puddle jumps then the NBSSR speed runs, which were all 998 winders mostly, and lots of fun seeing everyone.

Then Sunday we were also around Magnetawan to check out the "drag at the mag" races....rode up from Port Sydney and the trails up north there were never groomed sat night,,,grrr....so it was stand up riding the Winder with my newly up-righted riser(moved it forward to bear vertical) and then clicked my Qs3r's to #3, and wow! Sled can be rode HARD through the 4 footers....(Even for this old fart!) LOL

While these sleds sure can drive us nuts with all their problems, I think if we can all modify 3 or 4 major things, and fix them....these sleds can become very reliable and certainly there is nothing else to own that can give is the giggle factor these sleds(tuned) will give us!

Snapping my Winder corner to corner on 270r tune, with the transfer setup i have is simply hard to beat. Man its fun!

Lining up the RAP tour next, and hoping all goes well for my Winder on this trip from my backyard. Likely will end up around 700-800 miles all in.

I was getting pretty frustrated with all the upkeep, but I rode my buddies 850 and it felt like a SLUG and didn't handle as I would have thought. When I went back to the Winder I was smiling. Like anything there are trade-offs
This is the problem....I dont hate the 900t overall, but man o man nothing has the JAM we have with these tuned Winders. I just would be always alittle "underwhelmed" owning any doo at this time. Now if my sled breaks again, maybe Ill be thinking differently...lol

Hey Moto, you live up in the McKellar area or just riding through?
Good buddy ( but rides a Polaris) lol , has cottage on ahmic lake where we stay and also friends just south mcKeller

Just back from a 3 day trip(RAP TOUR) which was phenomenal. Great winter in our region here, best since '14. Rap tour('Round Algonquin Park) is a well known tour in Ontario that has eluded me for many yrs. Typically the last many yrs we have always had poor conditions somewhere along this run. This winter its been mint, so we did it Mid-Week and it was pretty much 98% perfect.

We also were able to work in the Ski-Doo 2020 tour in North Bay on Tuesday. So we got to see the new '20 Doos as well. We had COLD AM temps(Minus 29) with decent afternoon Hi temps. Handlebar Muffs in AM for sure as much of these trails once further away from Muskoka get wide open and fast. Sunny day 1 and day 3 which makes for better visuals of trail imperfections and less dead light.

My sled ran flawless, and my Ultimax is still holding up(all season so far!) The Winder is simply incredible on these bigger trails, many whoops and drops and elevation changes that are impeccably groomed out since the snow is plentiful, much like riding a roller coaster. The increased transfer on mine and controlling it with right thumb becomes a day long game of running skis in the air off each drop, and for how long you can keep them up.....This is always a blast for me since my local area is all tight and twisty, so the Winder is not as fun locally for me.

Then the more curvy stuff, the Pilot 6.9s with ACE 8" carbides is simply a carver! Hanging off the side of my seat and railing big sweepers the Winder is an animal. Its very hard to consider owning anything else, we are all spoiled with the massive power at flick of the thumb. When its cold, firm and pure traction it can lift skis at will, even at 70mph. Its sledding for me at its purest.

Nothing like a good trip with mint conditions, no sled issues and big mph.

That's awesome, Dan!! Especially what you went through! I agree...I thank God,.mines been flawless since new, and is a ton of fun just driving it with the thumb...just a fantastic sled when it's right!!

Yeah I hear ya....

Honestly, 3 or 4 days away from this site also helped alot! I love this site and am hear often, so all the bad posts can really get into your psychie! Before I left on the trip, I was just worried about everything. But once I got out riding, these sleds are incredible. And my sled in particular has all the poor engineering issues fixed by me. So I think they can become very reliable.

Just comes down to the fact.....Do we want to be constantly working on these and worrying, or do we want to just ride and do trips ect ect....gotta decide what you're really want from sledding. Many here are total 100% performance and not so concerned with taking trips and hi miles. Which is really what the Winder is all about. Maybe for just trail riding big miles, other sleds are a better choice?

So are you taking down the “for sale” ad Dan?!!

Just finished a 4 day trip in the UP, including getting caught up a bit in the blizzard near Big Bay. Had 3 SW's and 1 Viper. All the sleds ran perfect. One SW with a 1.25 track, 2 with 1.6's and 1 with a 1.75BC. The 1.25 was not a good choice for this trip as it got stuck more than we would have liked. Amazed how capable the 1.6/1.75 track can make a 137 4S sled. In the conditions we ran, we couldn't afford any mechanical difficulty. Glad to be on Yamahas and glad to have a dealer that knows his stuff and watches for the Cat DNA issues.

Awesome! Makes it all worth it eh. Going to get some throttle therapy myself this weekend. Glad you are happy buddy.

I like how you stated that with 3 or 4 fixes the sled is reliable. Very true and honest statement..
These are good sleds and the only sled you can purchase with this type of fun factor today.
I don’t like everything on them either but you run what you have and deal with what you have and live with it.

Looks like you had an awesome trip
Always good to hear that;)!
