Gap ram air

Did you see any difference in intake air temps with the under hood intake versus running thru stock air box?
I am running the Hurricane wai as well and this year upgraded to the super spool header performance exhaust tunes with wide band 02 module.

Yes, stock box runs cooler. That said I use the Hurricane under hood intake because of more RPM.

Ok thanks for the info.
Still waiting for enough snow to get out and ride.

Got the gap intake installed :D
Hoping to get out on the lake between boxing day and new years to set up clutch.
Might try to block the oem air inlet on the stock airbox for a few passes,
Going to try it with and without filter also

Mike, didn't you find that the filter hurricane supplies is puny?
I have a td cold air kit on mine and it has a much larger k&n than hurricane uses.
However, the elbow that comes with the td needs modification to fit properly, so when a customer asked me to put a cold air intake on his sled, I ordered the hurricane to try.
I was surprised at the difference in size in the filters.
In addition, the customer wanted to hear some of the whistle of the turbo through the intake that I can hear on the td, but not so much on the hurricane.
I agree outside the hood would be the best.

The Hurricane filter seems to flow enough to feed the 998. Dave selected this filter because of the air horn that is molded into it and it works. Even though it sucks warmer underhood air, it pulls more RPM and leaner A/F than the stock box does in back to back testing. A K&N flows so much air that IMO size is not as important as having that air horn on the end of the tubing is. Air horns help flow CFM always, they are not for looks but actually work as can be seen on the flow bench. Put the filters on a flow bench and see what they pull, that will tell you the story. Looking at them doesn't tell you a thing.

I wish the aftermarket makes an good looking aluminium air intake that is put on the hood or side panel. Not only the ugly mountain kit.

Still cold air to clutches and space for a nice catch can (milky slime from oil vent) on the belt cover.

Or a air intake that is more adapted to the hood and fits better. No high chimney out of hood!

That is definitely ugly! Absolutely NO way I'd put that ugly thing on a 25k sled!! Looks like a elbow of a septic system lol

Haha :)
But something better than a mountain kit chimney. Pic and paint only illustration. Like I wrote, something that fits the hood and are good looking.

Forget my illustration pics. I delete them because missunderstanding.

Better if I say, out of hood intake but something better and nicer than the moutantain kit high chimney in this pic..
