Ah yea. I honestly can't believe the snow we're getting. The snowbanks are probably as high as whatever peak We had last year. The snow We got saturday night was 10 inches of really heavy system snow. Then the lake effect stuff started about 7 pm last night and still going as I write this post. Infact our 10 day forecast still has snow everyday as of this morning.rupprider said:Monday morning, radar shows Gaylord area still getting hit? White outs? Looking good,eh?
For any of you guys that have been thinking about riding before christmas, this up coming weekend is looking really good. My buddy was out yesterday and said he hit some trails that were groomed.
Hopefully I'm going out this afternoon and I'll try to take some pics.

Superman - No I was riding my Yami Blue Phazer GT. I own 4 of them, 2 blue, 1 white, 1 red. So chances are if you see a group consisting of a few phazers, it could be us!
Anyways... here is my report of our ride Sunday Morning.
There was at least 8-10" that fell Sat night. We woke up sunday like kids on christmas morning!
We rode from Gaylord up trail 7 to the 765 loop around Wolverine and back, about 75 miles. I have never had a better ride in my life! No Joke! Other than the fog and mist the trails were amazing! We were the first tracks on every trail we rode!
Trail 7 was groomed all the way to 765. When we turned on 765, we were breaking trail through 10" of fresh powder! There were a few trees down across the trail up near wolverine, I would assume they will take care of that when the groomers start running there. All day I think we seen maybe 8 other sleds.
I would highly suggest that if you are getting the itch to ride, make your reservations for a room now! They will fill up very fast! Unfortunately I have a family x-mas party on saturday, but I may drive up sunday just to ride 100 miles or so. The conditions are too good to pass up!
See you all on the trails! Ride Safe!

Sorry I didn't get these sooner. Here are a couple of snap shots on the camera phone in town today. Not bad for December 4th. I took the Railroad grade north to Wolverine last night and conditions were way better than anything We had last year. Sorry I didn't have more pics on the trail but the battery in My phone was dying last night.

Rode yesterday 200 miles in the Gaylord, Indian River area. Snow conditons were great for this early in the season. I rode in worse conditons last January. The trails were white, frozen and snow covered throughout the entire area. Grooming was spotty. Freshly groomed in some areas, others have not been groomed at all for the first time this season.
We started out in Frederic and rode lakes of the north to Alba. Freshly groomed and in great shape. Then rode from Alba to Indian River. I would avoid this section. Trail 76 from Larrys to the Chandler Hills area is ungroomed and rough as it was last year. There is also a section that is closed with a unsafe bridge and no reroute. Fortunately there was enought snow on the side roads for us to avoid this area and get back to the groomed trails. They need to come up with a fix for this area. Neither clubs want to take ownership of this section of trail. We then rode to Alanson and Indian River. We passed the Petosky groomer and things were in great shape in this area. Then took the railroad bed back to Frederic. Trail was smooth and fast.
All and all a great first ride of the year. Also light sled traffic.

Rode Friday and saturday in Gaylord. All I can say was WOW! The trails were great Friday, we rode to the Bridge and back, on Friday. We logged about 270 miles friday on near perfect trails. Saturday the trails took a toll because of the traffic, which we expected, rode about 105 miles, Lakes of the North, Mansalona (sp), Alba, etc. There is a tons of snow and lots of fun to be had. This week is the western up, then a couple of weeks down time for the holidays! Can't wait to make it back up there!

We have not received much new snow this last week. However tonight the Lake effect is on and as I head to bed We have about 3 inches of fresh snow. Radar looks like it could keep up all night. Kind of a slow weekend. Looks like Christmas holiday should be pretty good. 7 day forecast is below freezing and some snow every day.

My guess is where there's snow its probably like riding on concrete at the moment. I have not gone riding since the 14th.

We're Screwed. Gaylord and Northwest Lower Michigan has basically lost all of its snow. Some seasonal roads have some snow but I wouldn't waste your time riding around Gaylord.
And if your thinking about the U.P. you better do some good homework because I came back from there last Saturday and they didn't have a hell of alot more snow than what We had before this warmup. Munising, Seney and Newberry? none of it was any better than Gaylord.
Just when you think We're about to have a good winter. This is probably more depressing than the last 2 winters combined.
