Superman, is that you that i have seen a few times (about 3 weeks ago) up around Dickerson and W. Otsego? Seen a blue Nytro getting on trail there a few times. I was on candy red Warrior.

Sorry I didn't catch this sooner. I just got back from Munising with the wife and kids. Probably not me. I've only had the Nytro out once around Gaylord this year. Been riding the Phazer mostly. I do use the trail around Dickerson and W. Otsego alot though. ;)!

Was certainly nice to come home and see about 5 or 6 inches of fluff in the driveway. I can't speak for current trail conditions but the snow certainly looks good. Hopefully somebody else can pipe in and say how current conditions are?

Superman are the lakes safe such as Otsego? I was told not to go on them a few weeks back from the locals. Also I have not seen any sleds on the lake the handful of times I've went past it. Thanks ;)!

I haven't heard much about the lakes in a while. I know a few weeks back a couple of sleds went thru with nobody getting hurt. I'll see what I can find out today.

Yes it is rocket. I'm at my Mom and Dads right now and on the way over the temp in the truck was 25 and rain was hitting the windshield. :o| Local weather guys say its going to change over to snow and one of the biggest storms of the year might be coming our way middle of this week. How were the trails around Gaylord the last couple of days? I assume you were in the surrounding Gaylord area??

Great snow from Atlanta to Jordan Valley and the surrounding area but with the amount of people out there the trails were rough. Thanks to the gps I didn't ride to many trails. Groomers were out but they had a hard time keeping up with the traffic.

We took a short ride with the kids tonight to have dinner at the Stampede and the trails had been groomed but it was pretty packed from the rain. My seld was running pretty hot by the time we got back (lil kids= slower speeds for us), just not kicking up enough snow, plus when we got back (around 6pm) I swear the thermometer out back said mid 30's. Anyway, heading down to eat I saw tracks on the lake (Otsego), but there are still not too many ice shantys out there. Kinda what I go by, but my Dad on the West side of the lake said he had seen quite a few sleds on the lake this weekend. So I'll stay off for a few more cold weeks. So far it seems the groomers are doing fairly well, except as previously mentioned, trying to keep up with the holiday trail traffic. Some corners did get a little bare this weekend, we do need this big storm. We'll wait and see.

***Updated--2/11/09***

Been awhile since I last updated but there wasn't much to report. IMO the Gaylord area was good on snow, and for the first time in years I was hearing more positive things on trail grooming than negative. The warm up since last weekend and the approaching rain should just about kill the riding in our area. As positive and amazing as the season started its sad this is the way it could be ending.

Having reservations in the keweenaw next weekend........Priceless.

Update: March 9, 2009

I just got the snowblower out a few hours ago and went to work on about 6-8" of snow that we received late last night

Bad news is the weather channel is still forecasting about 39 degrees for tomorrow and the next day.

I'm still riding the sled to work tomorrow :-o

Boy I gotta say that might have been one of the most intense storms of the year. I would say your right with the 6-8 inches. Too bad it didn't last another 12-24 hours.

Hey guys 2010 reports should start soon. Some reports on the lakeeffect telegraph say we could get 6" tonight. Time will tell and I will post if we do. The extended 10 day forecast looks pretty good.

How's the temps been? Is the ground starting to freeze up yet? We've seen a little bit of snow here but the ground is still too soft to hold any snow.
