Has anyone verified there top end speed of there xtx 144? Has anyone broke 110 gps on trail, and best top speed gps on lake, will our old ones beat the crap out of these long tracks. I hate to buy a brand new apex and get spanked by our 9 year old apex's.

re

I have a regular 2013 apex. I was in Canada on ice packed road. With gps saw 113 and 117 on speedo. I have 103 studs probably not enough. the run was approx. 2000'. I was beat by new cat turbos only by 3 sleds. I thought the xtx was supposed to be faster. my suspension settings are stock also limiter strap all the was out. transfer rod stock setting.

So your apex is the 128 correct, and how many miles,is it bone stock? If you suck down the straps at least one hole and retighten the track you may get a little more top speed, funny thing is your speedo should be know where near your gps reading, unless Yamaha changed the pick up or prox probe to allow for it to read closer to actual,i have never seen a stock apex speedo read that close past 100 mph, sounds like you got a freak, and that's good, but would of expected to see a little higher speed than 113 on plowed ice.

Last spring I pulled 115 on gps on my 2013 xtx on the lake, bone stock and around 2000 miles. The speedo was at 122.

That's not to bad, what were the conditions on the lake, snow covered or glare ice?

The speedos on the newer Apex's are way more accurate than the old ones. My speedo on my o'l Attak said 132mph while the GPS said 116 on an ice road. The new ones are within a few mph's.
Last year a buddy of mine got 112 on gps & a friend of his took his hand held gps on his 06 Attak & got 113!

On Trail;

109.5 MPH on GPS on trail with my former 2011 Apex SE I sold to a friend with 5,000 miles on the clock. Bone stock.

Minutes earlier my 2013 Apex SE [bone stock with 500 miles on the clock] went 2 MPH faster on Radar than the 2011 Apex SE did on Radar.

Same day at same time, 2006 Attak Radared 1 MPH slower than the 2011 Apex SE. [4,000 mile on the odometer]

All sleds studded 2 per row, 1.325's.

I raced my former 2006 Apex GT numerous times when I owned the 2011 Apex SE , [both bone stock] and the 2011 destroyed the 2006 every time.

My Apex XTX is running over 300 hp so the 138 MPH on the Trail doesn't really mean much.

No info on the ice.

IMHO the 2011 & up Apex's are probably not a lot faster than the 2006 - 2010's but they sure get there quicker & they have a heck of a lot more midrange pull.

Yamaha made a lot of changes on the 2011's and as much as I liked my 2006 GT it paled in comparison to the 2011's & newer.

Stock for stock the other guys 800's are also rans if the race is more than 500 '. Wins will be traded according to the mags with the XTX Apex usually ahead when going up against a stock Turbo Cat.

Oh ya,i see you have on your xtx what I plan on having on my 15 xtx some day, sense I am coming off a boosted kitty, how much time and money do you have in your turbo?

I bought this one used & built from 4 Kops on this site. Alan Ulmer built it for him.

About $ 8,000 retail for all the pieces including guages, clutching , boost controller etc.

I'm guessing 30 to 40 hours for a backyard mechanic like me first time but I am pretty slow & fussy.

The build is posted by Alan on this site in the turbo forum around Dec 2011. 2 threads by srxspec.

Oh ya forgot to mention, the friend who ran 112 had a 2010xtx.

Fastest mine has been was 168kph which was an indicated 172kph. I was not driving and the driver chickened out as it was still climbing. Stock clutching and I have oversize wheels on cheap kimpex hyfax. Was going from Killarney to little current on the lake trail. Only took us 15 min or less lol. Packed snow on ice with some small drift humps.

So 168 kph is 105 mph that's gpsed and was still climbing so maybe they will run 110-112 on very hard trail snow?

Last march I bought a left over '11 XTX. I took it to the U.P. and it ran 116 on GPS. This was on hardpack, groomed, old railroad bed trail. At the time the sled had 230 miles on it. This year the conditions were the same but a lot COLDER outside. It ran 114 on GPS but with all the deer up there this year I didn't push it too far. Sled is bone stock under the hood with no studs and has 2400 miles on it now. Last year had factory 4" carbides (JUNK) and this year went with aggressive snowtrackers. The speedo is only off 3-4 mph on mine. Hope this helps!

quite possible. lakes around here stink atm so I do not think I will find a good place to see if I can get better.

Now those are speeds i want to see,i would be happy with that, but if it barley breaks the c note, not so happy,ya my old dealer who has a 14 new one for sale was saying the ecu has been changed from 2010 and older,as our old one we used to grind two teeth off the pick up gear to make it 100% spot on,sounds like now they are where they should of always been.
