Headlight shroud = JUNK

I bought a brand new headlight shroud to the tune of $100. When I was pre threading the screws to cut the threads (being very careful) the screw post started to flex and turn white! Wow. $100, and I didn't even get it on the machine.

Right now it is sitting with JB Weld slathered all around the post to try to stop it from breaking off once installed. I can't believe Yamaha charges so much for something so worthless.

Mine did the exact same thing. I drilled it out and used a countersunk bolt with a nylon nut to fix it. I will agree they are junk.

heck here in canada we can get an aftermarket one from www.royaldistributing.com. the last oe one i bought was a lot more than $100.00 here. think i spent almost $200.00 for it from yamaha as royal did not have it at the time.

you should have purchased used . . . as said before, there are many used and salvage guys on this site.

Not sure about the OEM ones. Mine broke cause I tipped the sled over, but I can say that the aftermarket ones are complete CRAP. I paid $100 from royal distributing and one of the plastic tabs was broke when I opened it up. Another broke when I was putting it on. The screw holes were not even close to lineing up so I had to ream them out. Now it's barely hanging on my sled because I don't want to have to spend another $100 +shipping.

Yeah, I need one right now and I'm having a heck of a time justifying paying $125 for the piece of crap. How the hell can that piece cost so much? Total ripoff.
