Heat demon wiring

I'm planning on installing a heat demon seat element to my sled this weekend. I plan to run directly off the battery with an inline fuse and mount the switch under the handle Bars.

The installation manual is vague. Does anyone have any recommendations for wire Guage and fuse size?

I have a 7.5 fuse in mine. ( i may be a bit high on that) . Looks like a 3 amp (or just slightly higher) might be better.
EDIT
For a 12 volt, 36 watt heated seat, you would need a 3 amp fuse.

Explanation:

• To calculate the amperage, use the formula: Amps = Watts / Volts.
  
  
• In this case, Amps = 36 watts / 12 volts = 3 amps.

Cant remember gauge on wire(thinking maybe 14 or 16?) nothing to thick. Wire through accessory's so it turn off with key. Also I put a quick connect on for removing seat. My last ride my seat was not working ?/ forgot to plug it in beneath the seat! . It is nice though for removing seat and working on tank, etc.

Do not wire directly to battery. It will be on constant unless you turn the switch off. You will forget.

Yup. Did that one season and left it on a few times.

Thanks for the detailed response. From what I saw, the heat demon seat heaters have been discontinued but I found one on ebay. From the listing, it states that it will draw 2 amps, so I might go with a 3amp fuse. The description also says it has a quick connection for seat removal, so that will help with what you mentioned above. Where is the best place to take power from to avoid the battery issue? The key switch itself?

I used the accessory plug by the chain case. This is on a sidewinder AND catalyst. Viper should have a plug also? About the quick connect plug that comes with it> I found it to be very cheap and had a issue with one connecting properly.

This is what I bought. You get 5 so you got a extra or two for future use.

Thanks for the link to the plug, I ordered a pair. I also grabbed some high quality 16 awg insulated copper wiring and a HD 16awg inline fuse.

You will only be able to be "on" or "off" with the one you bought. I could be wrong on this but im pretty sure its just on or off.
Yes same guy on ebay.( i left one for someone else, thats what he has left) That's a great deal IMO. I have had nothing but good luck with these over the years. Guessing going back almost 10 years actually. I had a factory heater crap out and said no way im paying 200+ for a replacement so went with these at 80-90 i think at the time. You just have to cycle it on and off on warmer days.

Since the switch is just a resistor, shouldn't I be able to just wire the green/red into the seat positive, and the ground to the ground? The switch would just control how much voltage goes to the seat element. This is the schematic I found from arctic cat.
