What performance mods did you guys do? What works what don't Engine is bone stock. Sled has 192 picks in the track.

Was thinking about a Power Up Kit from the Speed Shop.

Any suggestions on what to do to this sled would be greatly appreciated.

How much $$$ are you willing to spend. Gearing, clutching and a filter kit for the intake air would cost approx 500-600 USD and gives a nice gain in performance. Do not expect a large gain in the top end. Nitro is an inexpensive way to make considerable gains in HP and in top end speed. Then there is the supercharger and turbo kits, expect HP levels from 220-260 HP for low end kits, cost from approx 5000 USD. High end turbos is capable of 500+ HP. If you want to know more about engine performance tuning, check out the 4Stroke Performance forums like 4Stroke Turbos/Supercharger, 4Stroke Nitrous and 4Stroke ECP Filters. For clutching check with www.thespeedshop1.com and www.ulmerracing.com
New shocks in the rear suspension would help the riding comfort a lot, Works, Ohlins, Elka makes great shocks for the RX-1.

Kind of looking for the best bang for the buck. Nitrous kit may be on order this fall.

I just got back from my first trip with this sled. I noticed the sled needs a way better holeshot. On the trails the sled felt respectable but the holeshot sucked!!!

Just be careful what you do with your intake. If you never ride in deep snow or behind someone it wouldnt be bad but be leary of snow dust. It is very hard on a motor. NOS is definatley a great bang for the buck but again make sure its hooked up right and your motor is getting the fuel it needs or you run a chance of granadeing. I think a bender turbo is about the best performance gain out just because they have had such good luck with motors holding up. However its much more expensive... My 05 is still stock right now but I think im gunna clutch it and thats about it...

What was the condition where you tested your holeshot? With 192 studs you should have good traction on hardpack and ice conditions for the holeshot. You need to adjust your control rods at the rear of the suspension for more transfer to increase traction for better holeshot, to increase transfer loosen the lower (lock nut) of the 22 mm alu screw adjusters, turn the upper alu adjuster screw counterclockwise a little. Stock setting is set at the middle with 3 rings showing. A powerupkit from the speedshop would help the holeshot a lot if you can hook up out of the hole.

Holeshot was done on snow packed lake. I've got the transfer rods set for full transfer as well. I will say it was warm out last Saturday approx. 38-40 degF.

Also sled was only pulling about 9,600 - 9,700 rpm on the tach. Could this be the warm weather messing with me? I thought the sled should pull around 10,200 rpm.

Weather is a very big factor. These things dont run well when the weather is warm. Mine with the ECP kit hates the warm weather. Over fuels like crazy. Your stock track sucks. If your rods aren't let out your hole shot is gone. I have come to think that with the no action rear suspension it's either set up for race or trail but not both.

With my current set up I have about 8-12 sled lenghts over a stocker bottom and midrange but I'm still slightly under revving. I have beat other sleds like an 03 ZR9. he gets the hole shopt then I motor past him in mid range and top end is no comparisin. An 06 Mach Z stock with updates, I can get him out of the hole and up to about 70mph. After theat he absolutely hands me my #*$&@.

Last weekend I ran it in 1000 ft radar run. I ran 82 mph. 3 of my buddies were there as well ZR900- 82 mph, 05 or 06 Crossfire-84 mph and 03 F7-87 mph.

Out of the hole these guys really spank me bad. I just can't get caught back up with them.

I was suprised when we ran relatively close in the radar run. They were surprised as well.

Looks like a clutch kit and ECP kit are on order later this summer. If I have the money a nitrous kit is going in as well!

buy a holtzman nitrous system, best bang for the buck.you want to smoke the machz pm me and i'll tell you everything i have done
