So I got the sample HID's installed tonight.
I think these may really help withe the high/low issue on the stock set up. I would love to pull this thing out in the street right now but my wife would shoot me! I'll get it out tomorrow night and shoot some more video....
Anyhow...check out the video below and tell me what you guys think on the high/low beams???
Man these things are sweet!
AND BRIGHT!!!

Good eyes. Yeah that's a 95 supercharged and if you look close right through the windshield of the sled in the last pic there is a 69 vert as well. That one is stock. and there is a Z-28 sitting n front of the 95 too. There all fun and yeah like all of us I love toys. There were all steals so I snagged them over the years.
I wanted to list a collection I just saw but cant find the link. Man it was sick...so many cars it would make your head spin. I'll find it....
So what do you think of the high low range? That's what I really want to know from you guys...

From what we can tell from the video, looks like the hi/lo range should be very usable. Could probably tell more when you get it outside. From most of my reading on here from people that have used HID lights on there sleds it appears a color temp around 5000 is better than the bluer 6000. Is that option available from this source?
Hope to see these kits available from you soon. Don't want to wait another year before being able to use them.

Kurt,
Very nice! Based on the quality of the Sled Start that I bought from you I am sure that this kit will be top notch as well.
Are there separate filaments for high and low or is the bulb pulled in and out of the reflector to produce the split?

Yeah I will get some pictures of them as soon as I have the thinner ballasts and the custom harness all installed in the sled.
They have one lamp and it's pulled in and out via magnet.

Shootinstick,
Yes, Any color can be had, but from what I have read 6000 is a perfect color temp. I dont know if we would really even notice the difference between 5k and 6k
Found this bit of Info digging around one night.
HIDs are being used by more and more car manufacturers. These "high-intensity discharge" (HID) headlights are awesome. Not only are they 6X brighter then the stock dim stock headlights, but they use less power to run. 35W per bulb, compared to the stock 55W filament bulbs. More power left over for other accessories! The 6000K bulbs project light close to natural sunlight making your path super bright and much safer to ride at night. These lights are lit with an arc of light instead of a filament (the glowing coil in light bulbs). Off road bumps and shock cannot damage the lamp because there is no filament to break. They will probably last the life of the vehicle.
What is K? Color Temperature and Kelvin A basic unit of thermodynamic temperature (color temperature) used to measure the hue (color) of the light output. HID lighting kits are generally offered in 6000K - 30,000K color ranges. The higher the Kelvin (K) of the kit, they bluer the light output is. A good HID kit would be between 4300K and 8000K. This will closely replicate sunlight, the best driving conditions. Kits in the higher Kelvin range, 10000K+, are so blue that the light tends to scatter before hitting the road, leaving some lighting lost in the air. Although this adds a great look to the vehicle, it is not the most effective in the way of lighting.
Real HID bulbs are NOT tinted or painted blue. A tinted or painted "Xenon bulb," it is not a real HID bulb and will produce less light than a standard halogen bulb and get really hot and could melt your headlight or the wiring.
These are some of the color temps:
3500K - Golden Yellow
6000K - Crystal White
8000K - Crystal Blue
10000K - Aqua Blue
12000K - Purple Blue
30000K - Crazy Blue White
Most car manufacturers H.I.D. lights are 4300K, this is said to produce the most usable light

You guys going to be selling a kit? I would like to get one for this year was just going to go DPM but will wait if you guys think you will have something. The remote start unit is most impressive I was expecting a adapted auto part store unit and got this freaking crazy nice unit. Nice job

Thanks Kinger...post up in the SledStart thread if you dont mind. I am sure some guys reading that thread are wondering the same thing on what they would really be getting. It's not junk...so let em know for me ok?
Thanks...
And yeah...the pictures you see are of the sample units I am testing. I want to make a custom harness so there is not all this extra wire that comes with the car kits. Only small mod that I needed to do to get in installed was trim the boots that cover the bulbs but it was a breeze. Install took no time at all and this is one sweet kit...not a cheapie at all!!!
Should be REALLY SOON based on how long it will take them to make the harnesses. Everything else should be prety much set. I wopuld hope to have these to ship within 3 weeks or so.
Thanks again for the compliment on the Starter.

Must be some difference in companys on how bright the bulbs are?? From what ive read, stock halogen is 900-1200 lumens. 35W HID is 3200-3400 lumens (approx 3 times brighter then halogen). 55W HID is 5000 lumens. So these guys have a 35W HID with around 6,000 lumens?
The biggest compaint i have so far with the HID's are yeah sure they are really bright. But im not impressed on how my nytro throws the light. For me it seems way to concentrated in the middle. kind of like you have a spotlight for headlights. really bright, but i want to see whats going on on out to the sides a little more than what it is. I think the best way, but definately sacrificing factory looks so prob not an option for many, is to ditch the stock housing and get the HID's that have their own housings
