Would work but you have to just go on inner race and the shaft to avoid risk of bearing or wheel damage. Dull chisel on inner race also works well.Has anyone removed the upper arm of the scissor with the high rollers and placed it in a shop press with a couple of 1/2" plates sandwiching and supporting the wheel as you push it off the shaft?
That tool is great but is several hundred dollars

I have done it the same way mentioned by others here. After I got this tool, I wondered why I didn't do it sooner.

Everyone was great this past September giving advice when I was pulling it apart but that wheel did not want to come off. I was disappointed with the marks I left on the shaft despite trying - to not put marks on the shaft. No doubt next time they will come off much easier after using never seize on them. Just thought pressing them off would be more civilized. Yes - you are putting stress on the bearing and it will likely have to be scrapped, but at least the shaft and wheel wont have any collateral damage.

That is true. I just file any nicks off and sand the shaft. But definitely is not the proper way to do it. A guy could make a split fixture for in press using a old bearing inner race welded to a plate with hole in it for shaft. Then cut plate in half with cutoff wheel.Everyone was great this past September giving advice when I was pulling it apart but that wheel did not want to come off. Can also just remove clip from wheel, take wheel off bearing and just use a puller on the bearing itself. I believe I used a alternator pulley puller on one one time. Those are cheap.

I used a soft 4" galvanized nail. Cut point off and and made it nice and round. Nail is softer than shaft and bearing race. Never put any marks on my shaft or damage to bearing race. worked great for me.
I know it been said but this site is so great with the advice that people share, it makes it easy to do work that you have never done before

Phew, well thank you guys for the insight. It seems everyone had a much easier time than me. I finally, FINALLY, got mine removed.
I took a punch to the bearing breaking the outer plastic/shield to expose the balls and cage/retainer. I used the same punch to break the cage/retainer to eventually break that up and pull it out with pliers. I then used a screwdriver to move all of the ball bearings to the bottom of the bearing and was able to pull the wheel off. I now have the outer race stuck in wheel and inner race still on the shaft needing to be pulled off. I went to advance auto parts, and borrowed a gear puller. I then used the gear puller (with another buddy) to get the pressed inner race off of the shaft. I was unsuccessful with the gear puller just by myself.
My next hurdle is I now have the outer race stuck in the bogey wheel with no good surface to pound it out. I'll attempt using a punch, but at this point I honestly may just buy a new bogey wheel because I'm so tired of dealing with it... but I'm just about as stubborn as this effing bearing.

$280 for that puller........ That's a crazy price. I'll just keep doing the old fashion way or maybe make my own.

Wow they must be making tolerance tighter or something. I feel your pain bud. Try slamming that wheel down on floor with opening down. Repeatedly. Bearing outer race will come out partially giving you room for punch to get it out rest of way. Wear gloves. Dont hit your fingers.Phew, well thank you guys for the insight. Part number 0644-570
https://www.countrycat.com/arctic-cat-0644-570-idler-wheel-puller-tool-kit_1
$12,000+ sled and some are hesitant to spend $300 on a tool. Don't get it.
Also, the whole upper wheel assembly is $32.00
https://www.countrycat.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=3604-901
Less than 1/2 hour to remove upper wheels, swap springs, install new upper wheel assemblies, and move on to my next project. And I'm a very slow mechanic. Now a days I pick my battles. This is one I will not struggle with anymore.
Bonus material is I can help others attempting this same battle.

Hesitant to buy a specialty tool at a ridicules price? YES! Like many job specific tools this can easily be fabricated or replaced by a multipurpose tool. In this case a $30 two or three jaw puller works well to remove the bearings and that's only used if I can't tap it off the shaft. After 30+ years of working in shops I have an abundance of tools that will get me through most any job. If I bought every job specific tool that came along I'd be broke and wouldn't be able to afford these toys

Easy there grumpy grizzly man.
We all do not have the resources, talents, and accumulated tools as you.
If I was to put a price on effort, frustration, time to figure out how, and wrecking stuff in the process, this tool has paid for itself many times over.
Bonus too is I've been able to bless others by eliminating their struggle.
If distance wasn't a factor, anyone here could borrow this tool any time.
If you're close to the Brainerd Lakes Minnesota area, give me a shout.
We'll have your wheels off before your coffee gets cold.
