How many have bought the Hurricane alignment tool ,and used it .?


We’re and what size shims are available mine is out 1.7 mm. Also how is everyone removing this material fro the back of there secondary.

Most guys have to remove approx 3mm from back of sec hub....I had my machinist remove this and had him make custom shims, 1.5, 2mm, and I have stock 1mm. Then set where you want.

You want HUB flush on backside of sec after machining....when fully opened without spring installed....like this.

I’m going to look at clutch’s without spring.when I pulled mine apart Dan I had no shims from stock I just ordered 1mm and 2mm shims gotta get a hold of my buddy he’s a machinist. I keep you posted as I have to do 2 other sidewinders

Awesome...Keep us posted on where yours lands....Some dont need as much, but will see. I have not even used my new hurricane tool yet been too darn busy. I know I set mine around 58mm or so, which is a net move inward of 2.5mm after shim.

^^^Not all sidewinders were delivered with a shim behind the secondary. It's a common part and should be in stock or you can easily find it online. part #8JP-RA448-00-00 WASHER -1mm.
Has anyone seen different readings when flipping the bar? I get about. 050 one way and .030 after flip. I checked bar for straight on a certified granite surface where I work, all good.
I like using the gauge with wide part down to clutch, seems easier to see and measure and don't see a difference if I flip the gauge. I've flipped the bar many times and get different readings. Not sure how much to machine off. What am I missing??
 
Has anyone installed the hurricane stub shaft and then used the tool? Well I had my clutches spot on with tool prior to installing new shaft and now I need to add shims behind machined secondary. Is this new shaft made to correct rattle and offset?

So now I will need to add shims behind secondary and also to plug since I machined both?

Yes Dave knew about the 3mm from way back. So he made the stub shaft the proper length to include the proper offset. No need to machine 3mm of secondary hub then. Win Win! So Dave's stubs shaft solves two things! Hurricane always bringing the innovation.

If you already machined secondary, you will need to add back in shims to get aligned w/his bar. Likely 3mm.

Why not call Dave and ask? Seems odd a straight tool/piece of metal could get different readings depending on orientation, but I know others have found the same.

I agree, that's why I wanted to ask around here. I would give Dave a call but my work hours makes that difficult. Thanks.
